MAGPIE'S MUMBLINGS

A blog about my interests, which include fabric landscapes and various and assorted other artsy pursuits and sometimes known to contain mumblings of a random nature.

I've added a little more of the detail to the landscape I was working on, along with sandwiching it ready to start the quilting and further detail work.  Not sure if I'll be able to complete this one though because my supply of glitter I use for details in the snow has dwindled and it appears it's in short supply at the moment.  Guess everybody else is using it too!

Here's your quote for the day..."The secret to living well and longer is to eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure"

  1. Love how this is coming together; nice double border with the tree reaching over one...hugs, Julierose

    1. Thanks Julierose - it's starting to come together now but don't know if I'll be able to get a complete finish on this one, at least not for awhile. Fingers crossed!

  2. The barn and trees are looking good. I'm sure you'll have plenty more projects to fill in time until the barn is worked on again. Love those cute animals - anyone of them would be a delight to own.

    Love your new quilt.
I have an earring holder on my wall that i made years ago using the insect netting, wire in a picture frame it has stood up to at least 20 years of service with no problems so far.
That wallet link only lead to paid for patterns and then wouldn't open anything to have a look at. very disappointing, not in you. in the companies that produce this type of thing, it is not free and it no patterns.it is false advertising on their part. I desperately need a new wallet so thought oh beauty, oh well i will find one soon that i like.
Thankyou so much though for all the links you put up, I have made many things, and enjoyed looking at many more things, that i would not otherwise have found.

    1. Thank you for the head's up Elizabeth over the wallet links but when I went back to check them they open fine for me and most of them are free patterns. There might be one or two that might be pay ones (I didn't check all 100 of them to see). I don't know why you ended up with something different than I'm seeing. Hmmm.... I'm sorry you were disappointed! Hopefully I'll find some more and put them up for you.
Glad you enjoy my links - and thank you so much for the comment!

    1. Thanks Kim. The glitter I prefer is made by DecoArt and is called 'Glamour Dust' . It's very fine and soft which many glitters aren't. Works wonderfully mixed with paint to add snow details onto the landscapes.

  5. Your quilt looks beautiful as it is now.
Those critters in the gallery are gorgeous, and a bit pricey.
    Love the quote

    1. Thank you! I must admit I didn't even register the price on the critters - I was too blown away by the artistry.

  6. The wallet link shows first, clearly labeled, ads for paid patterns then explains you scroll down past the ads to free ones, which I did, and found them. You do have to note the headings though, to avoid the paid patterns.

And the current landscape is coming on a treat. I admire your willingness to depict snow in midwinter!

    1. Thanks Liz - interesting to know that different experiences happen for different people with that link.
As for depicting snow - there's lots of inspiration outside at the moment!!

    1. I fell for the red barn too, even though it's not quite as 'crusty' as the ones I normally gravitate towards.
