Yep, I'm just hangin' out - with the likes of Neil Diamond, Kenny G, and Garth Brooks. Bet you didn't know I moved in such exalted circles!! They're all crooning in my ear as I stitch on this pile.....
All of this I hope will be turned into 40 face masks in short order, with the ironing prowess of Resident Chef who gallantly has volunteered to press the ties.....80 of them! That man is a keeper.
You two are good people making all those masks.
ReplyDeleteWill check out the magazine.
The batik with a glue stick link is a winner.
Thank you for the laugh, balloon cartoon is hilarious!
The balloon picture made me laugh out loud too - I can just imagine it happening. As for the batik/glue stick, I would think you could probably use any glue stick....at least I would try it anyway.
DeleteOh i see you are cutting ear loops for masks up there!! I tried making an ear loop mask and failed totally--I have only made the ones with binding ties...oh well, regular sewing is not really my thing anyway--I never can do zippers for bags and such either...that's ok I do enjoy seeing the things others make...
ReplyDelete~ ~ ~ waving in the sun for a lovely change--Julierose
Actually I'm making the ties - guess it didn't show up very well in the picture.
DeleteI see you have some tutorials in this edition, Mary Anne. Since I'm not a crazy quilter (though I'm a great admirer of them), you'll excuse my ignorance by asking... are you a regular contributor to this publication? I know you've been in it before, but I'm wondering just how ignorant I am of your fame. While I'm sure that got a chuckle out of you, I really do feel honored to keep blogging company with someone who make such beautiful and creative things with fabric and thread.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm actually the assistant editor of the magazine, as well as acting as proofreader. I try to contribute an article/tutorial in each issue as well. Thank you for your kind words about what I do!
DeleteOh! I'm so glad I asked!
DeleteOoooh nooo - I think we've all experienced that moment be it a balloon or some other "kapow" :-)
ReplyDeleteBalloons do have a habit of popping don't they - usually when you least expect it too.
DeleteYep, those masks are hard to stay away from sewing. I've managed to listen to 4 books through all the masks. It has made time go by faster.
ReplyDeleteJust read about all the spook activity in your last post? Really a mystery.
I'm truly hoping mask making has reached the end in my household (no more so than my long-suffering iron-wielding husband!). I know there's such an ongoing need for them but I've reached my limit.
DeleteWell done Mary Anne! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine - I'm glad they're finished now and already delivered.
DeleteThat is a hilarious photo. I have only made two masks but if I were to make more, I would be doing them assembly line. Glad that hubby volunteered. It cuts the workload.
ReplyDeleteI've looked at that photo several times and I laugh just as hard as I did the first time I saw it. Assembly line is the only way to go when you're making masks, particularly if you're doing any quantity. I can't imagine how long it would take if I were to do one at a time. And yes - Resident Chef is a gem!
DeleteGreat beginning on your 40 more masks dear. Resident Chef is such a serious GEM!!!! Love the cat and balloon. Great quote dear. <3
ReplyDeleteYes, Resident Chef is a gem and I know it - I've known it for over 40 years! I think maybe I might keep him..
DeleteYou have been busy. Great job on the masks. I liked the link on using the glue stick as a resist on fabric. Might have to try that one. thanks
ReplyDeleteGlad to found something of use in the links. I thought it would be fun to try the glue stick resist too.
