Three more pages

The quiet book is done but I'm a bit behind in posting pictures so here are the rest of the pages....

Above is the inside front cover - a snow globe
with sequins inside.
Below is the front cover.... a family 'tree'

Below is the back cover - they have a
cat so I made this one using some
fake fur I had in my stash...

I will show the completed book in
my next blog post on Monday.

  1. I read Becky's post and it is exactly what my family have been doing for about 2 years now. We knew we were moving so we have made a joint effort. "Less is more" has been our mantra.

    1. We downsized dramatically when we moved into this apartment but it's high time we did it again. It's amazing how we can manage to accumulate so much unnecessary stuff!

    1. The snowglobe was one of my bright ideas that actually worked out...yay! They have a Bengal cat and the colours in this fabric reminded me of him.

  4. Your quiet book is absolutely wonderful and personalized to become a family heirloom! So many amazing artisans. Baby Yoda is quite the rage and the dog face is too funny. Excellent Quote. Happy New Year and 2020 Blessings Dear.

    1. I hope the book won't become an heirloom and will be used instead. The pieces are meant to be lost and chewed and played with. I know the other two books were so hopefully this one will be the same.

  6. Beautiful book!
The eye candy link is an unexpected wow. I thought it would be shoes.

    1. Shoes? Hmmm - not my thing I'm afraid. I am one of those rare women who has very few pairs of shoes and wear the ones I have thoroughly out before venturing into a new pair.

  7. Great progress on your pages!
Yes, I think less is more and getting rid of stale fabric and odds and ends that will never be used is a virtue.
And 'traveling light' helps my creativity stay fresh. Nothing like regret, hate and fear to hold us back.
Thanks for the reminder, Mary Ann.

    1. I like that term - stale fabric! I can certainly stand to get rid of a lot of that.

    1. Glad you like the pages....the snow globe was interesting to make. Took a lot of thought to create that one!

  9. Becki makes a very good point: that tossing can become as addictive as acquiring! I often have to slow down, since I'm not a conservator, it's easier for me than most to start disposing. Very little gets into the garbage. Mostly it's to people who have agreed, or the thriftie, or the recycle. But I move at speed!

    1. I think it's best to move with speed, otherwise you end up second guessing yourself and keep far more than you should. I already know I'm going to need to get some boxes to put the rejects into on their way to a more appropriate 'home'.

  10. Second comment, because, respect, the book is lovely. And I like that you don't treasure it, but want the baby to enjoy it as babies do, chewing, tugging, hugging etc. The baby will do all of those!

    1. I don't treasure ANYTHING I make - to me, it's all meant to be used and enjoyed and if the recipient doesn't like it I'm not bothered in the least if they get rid of it.

  11. Mary Anne, I love the family tree page for the quiet book, and the furry cat! I so looking forward seeing the finished book! Tomorrow, it looks like! :) Thank you for liking what I wrote about the minimalizing I did in November so much that you linked to it again. I'm going to get started back up on that in January. I look forward to seeing (in pictures) the progress you make. I hope you provide inspiration to me this time! :) Happy New Year!

    1. Glad you like the quiet book Becki - it was such fun to make. And yes, there will be pictures of my purging efforts although I don't know how interesting they will be!

  12. I love the cat! I agree with your idea that the things you make should be used, it’s just what I say about most of my stitching!
    Your book is fabulous!

    1. Exactly - my thought is why make something if it's NOT meant to be used. I hate putting the time and effort into making something for it to just sit in a drawer somewhere. Use it, and if it wears out, I'd be happy to make another!!
