Over the weekend I finished knitting a wee toy for our expected new grandbaby....
I make this toy for pretty much every new baby that comes along because it seems they all end up loving it. Pattern is the 'Knubbelchen' and can be found HERE. You can use pretty much any soft yarn to make these provided the needles are compatible with the yarn weight. In this case I used DK weight and 2.5 mm needles.
Today's quote is from Steve Maraboli...."Want to keep Christ in Christmas? Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you"
Now that little guy is adorable!! Wish I knew how to knit! It's funny that you have the link to that twisted headwarmer . . . I just made one last week (crochet - THAT I can do!) and when looking for free patterns I saw a lot of these but not with the fur yarn. SO cute! When is your grandbaby due? We are expecting our first in May. I love the quiet book idea using their clothes they've outgrown too! Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteI would imagine you could crochet one with the fur yarn too - would be just as cute. Our new wee little one is due the end of January (will be our third!).
DeleteI love these Knubbelchen. I can see why they'd be loved by their recipients. And thanks for all the great links today, Mary Anne. I especially love the crocheted Christmas stockings. And the 12 Days of Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteI make these little toys for every baby that I know - they always seem to be loved. What's best about them is that they can be made with any weight yarn....just changes the overall side of the toy somewhat. I really like the idea of the 12 Days of Christmas gift too - have earmarked that one for next year.
DeleteOh this little person dolly is so adorable...wish i could still knit...so cute hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part of making these is tying the knots in the ends - particularly if you have arthritis in your hands (as I do). They ARE cute though!
DeleteYour baby gift is adorable. Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy!
DeleteSuch a cute knitted lovey for your newest baby. So many fun links and great ideas. This quote should be lived every day by every one. Blessings Dear...<3
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry....and I agree, that quote should be lived every day.
DeleteHi Maryanne wow what a cute toy,you are very clever my friend, this will be well loved xx
ReplyDeleteThese are usually a big hit with babies, so hopefully it will be the same this time.
DeleteThis is so cute Mary Anne. I have another expected grandchild in February 2020 and this would make the perfect gift. I'm going to look out the pattern. Thank you for the link! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Christine! Have fun making it - the hardest part (at least for me!) is tying the knots in the end of the arms, legs and hat (although I suppose they aren't really necessary in the grand scheme of things!)
DeleteJust getting ready to whip up some of the gift bags! So cute - see I told you I was going to find things to sew from your blog!
