Announcement (and a little extra)

..
Today I will give you a little break from the seam treatment series and show you a piece of knitting I just finished.  This is a wee blankie for our expected grandbaby who is due to arrive around the first of September.

The pattern is a free one found on the Bernat site called 'Softee Baby Knit Baby Blanket'

Pattern can be found HERE.

As a wee note (mainly to myself for future makings of this pattern)...I think I would add perhaps add a few more rows between the 'pattern' rows.  As the pattern is written it calls for 5 rows with the 6th row being the pattern and I'd like to widen that a little.

Today the quote is from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee...."Sometimes people come up to me when I am knitting and they say things like, "Oh, I wish I could knit, but I'm just not the kind of person who can sit and waste time like that."  How can knitting be wasting time?  First, I never just knit; I knit and think, knit and listen, knit and watch.  Second, you aren't wasting time if you get a useful or beautiful object at the end of it.  I will remember that not everyone understands.  I will resist the urge to ask others what they do when they watch TV"

  1. Beautiful blanket, I was never able to conquer knitting.
As you know I have never tried CQ, what better reason to start. At the very least it gives me a reason to try and design a block. I gotta go back and read the rules again.
How is your weather doing, our pattern is getting rain and thunderstorms then 100 degree temps lately. Storming now and calling for the 80's Sat. and Sun. them back up to high 90's I think. Our garden is loving it.

  4. Lovely knitting, Mary Anne. I like to knit....and about the quote.....I've received some of the same feedback about the things I make....not many, but a few...I feel sorry for them because they haven't been able to experience the joy of giving a piece of oneself to another by giving the work of their hands with no expectations. Just true joy in the act of giving.

  10. Beautiful blanket for a lucky baby!!! I read your quote and whew! Knitting is not a waste of time. I have some of the greatest, warmest socks that I have knit. Plus I was probably hanging out with friends or family all the while I worked on them.
