Unfortunately I have lost the band from the yarn so I have no clue what I used, but I do know it was a 4 ply worsted from Lion Brand, probably Wool Ease. The pattern is called 'Baba's Bed Socks' and I think I got it from Ravelry. They're nice and cushy and should keep her feet warm this winter.

I've also been working on the prototype of the 'project' I will be sharing with the ladies that are taking my embroidery workshop class next month.
(and yes, you can laugh, because it DOES look like a boob!!)
I think I've managed to cover pretty much all the basic stitches in this project. The finished size is 8 1/2 x 11", which means they can put it into a binder and keep it for future reference. At the very least, I suppose they could mount it on the wall and use it for dart practice!
My suggestion to Heather: dump Wordpress! I know too many people who end up paying someone to admin for them because WP is a more professional level techie place. She can port her blog over to blogger...
ReplyDeleteAnd the stitching thing is good -- probably it will be amusing, too, always a nice touch!
Boob....looks like a grand wagon wheel to me....sorry not able to help with Heater's no reply problem.

Oh, I love the bed socks!
I'm sorry, Magpie, for making you have to use your blog to contact me! I believe I have fixed the problem, if someone wants to attempt to contact me now.

How clever is this. I think it is a wonderful beginners project and as you say they can keep it for future reference.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good friend knitting these socks for your friend.

Thanks, Boud, I may consider moving to Blogger. I'll have to investigate the implications. I don't think that my problem is with Wordpress but with my Blogger profile. But I'll keep working on it.

The socks look so nice and the wheel project is a great idea as a stitching reference guide.
