I'm back

Rest in Peace
Robert "Bob" Michie
December 27, 1920 - October 5, 2010

Dad passed away peacefully with us by his side last night just after supper.  He was home with us, in his own bed, where he wanted to be.

He has lived with us for eleven years (since my mother died) and it was a decision we made that we have never for one minute regretted.  He has been a pleasure to have with us and I'm so grateful that we were able to give him the home he wanted.

Thank you so very much to all of you who have been praying and sending your best wishes to us.  I'm sure it was because of those that his passing was so comfortable.  I could never begin to repay you all for your kindness but please know how much it has been appreciated by Jack, RJ, Shawn, myself and Dad.  Just knowing you were there gave us all great comfort.

Mary Anne,

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family. You gave your dad a wonderful home for 11 years. How comforting for him to be able to die in such peace and comfort with you and your family there with him.

Hi Mary Anne
Being with your father when he passed was a gift of peace to you and to him. Knowing he was comfortable and with those he loved, will give you peace of mind in the future, believe me. A part of him will always remain with you in your home.
Blessings to you and yours.

No matter what the circumstances, you are never prepared for the effects of losing a loved one. Wishing you all the best in this next phase of your life where mourning is a different for each and every one of us. Fondly, Roberta

I'm sorry I've only just read this because I have been thinking about you.
I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said but I think you did a very great service for your father and gave him a gentle and loving passage from this life.

Sister Magpie,
I am very sorry for your loss. You were there for him and that is so very important. You will have the memories of the time he shared in your home, such a special time. I am sure he appreciated having a home with you. After your mom passed, would have been a lonely time for him without you. I pray for you and your family, in your loss of a loved one.

Love to you,
Debbie

Hi Mary Anne,

No matter what, it is hard to lose a parent. I'm happy that your father's passage was calm and surrounded by love. Who could ask for more? You and your family will stay in my prayers while you are adjusting.

It's wonderful that you were able to take care of your father right to the end of his time on earth.

Much to be proud of, and now time for you perhaps to get a bit of rest and recover yourselves?
