Puncture marks

UPDATED TO ADD:  Please go and read THIS and consider taking part!  Hit big business where it hurts.  The power lies in OUR hands!

****************************

Yes, I have puncture marks on my fingers from cross stitching these bookmarks but the pain is worth the gain!  I'm happy with how they turned out and now into the Christmas box they go.

- For those who swear at removing foundation papers for paper piecing, have a look at THIS brilliant tutorial!

- THIS is a nifty little idea for a quick project.

- HERE is another great idea for those of you who enjoy making junk journals.

Today the quote is from Thomas Sowell..."It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance"

  1. Well, pricked fingers result also from picking thistles! The bookmarks are beautiful.

  2. Those bookmarks are lovely! Great gifts. Because people still do read books.

    1. I certainly do read books - haven't gotten onto the digital type although I did try during the beginning of covid. I still like real honest-to-goodness books.

  4. Your bookmarks are beautiful and so worthy of your needle pricked fingers. I never buy anything from Amazon on principle. People power is the way to fight. I have a feeling those ignorant people are finding out the truth the hard way.

    1. Thanks Kim! I think Amazon became 'the thing' particularly when Covid hit - it's easy and quick and people like instant gratification. We need to find other sources, particularly ones from our own country.

  7. What lovely additions to the Christmas box.
We rarely shop Amazon so that is no problem at all, and actually since I did my shopping on Tuesday I will be able to not shop at Walmart. My problem with boycotting those big box stores is that they do have lots of Canadian products and Walmart here in my small city probably has at least 600 of my cities citizens in their payroll. Do I want to put them out of a job? No chance, also there are not many places to shop here other than the Co-op, Canadian Tire, Marks and my pharmacy that aren't owned by a U.S. corp. I am greatly torn... What to do?

    God bless.

    1. It's a fine balance between a total ban on US products vs keeping Canadian workers in jobs. I don't think a one-day total ban will hurt our workers so I'm good with it. Overall I will be still shopping at my normal places (just not Friday) but will be searching for more Canadian-made items while I'm there. It's a small thing but it's something we can do to fight back.

  8. Beautiful work! And as others have noted, the connection between thistles and sore fingers jumped out at me immediately.

    1. Yes, thistles ARE prickly aren't they. These were fun to make but it will be awhile before I do more cross stitching, just to let my fingers recover.

  9. I guess I'm one of the few people that doesn't understand the purpose of the "no buy" day?

    1. I think it's a 'hit big business where it hurts' kind of thing, but if you read the article at the link I shared it explains it more fully.
