A little catch up

Today I will share a few projects I have completed recently.  First up is a twin-sized quilt featuring Super Mario's outfit.  Can you see it?

Maybe now?

Our #2 grandson will be getting his room re-decorated for Christmas and they're using a Super Mario theme and a special request was made for Grandma to make him a twin-sized quilt.  Of course, what's a Grandma to do but oblige?  While I was at it, some of you might remember the pillowcase I made to go along with the quilt....

and, if all goes well, there might just be a throw pillow too.

I also just put the finishing stitches in another wee sweater for our expected grandbaby....

The colour here is definitely off (sorry, dull day...again)
but it's using the same yarn as the previous sweaters.
Pattern is the 'Room to Grow Baby Sweater' by Laura Marconi-Cox
and can be found HERE.

Over the past weekend things started ramping up in the kitchen of Resident Chef and one of the creations was a batch of 'Carrot Cake Jam'.  Oh boy....yummy stuff!  I haven't done the labels yet, but here's what's going to a few people for Christmas this year...

And here is one of the lace cards I made that will be heading off to live in Australia with my cousin who just happens to own a really cute Scottie dog named Maggie...

And, finally, these three fabric postcards were created...

Very simple, keeping in mind the fact that
they should have been in the mail two weeks ago!

Today's quote is a continuation of the series...."As I get older I realize my people skills are just fine.  It's my tolerance of idiots that needs work"

  1. Oh ho;)))) that quote is SOOOO true...I used to be so patient--but now--not so much!! Is it because we see Old Father Time knocking on our door and want to get stuff done??? LOL thanks for a great post hugs, Julierose

    1. For some reason it seems like there are more idiots out there every day! And how true that there never seems to be enough time to get our stuff done.

    1. Good thing we plan to give all but one jar away! It wouldn't stay in the cupboard for long otherwise. I agree that waiting until after Thanksgiving to start thinking about Christmas decorating and such, but for some reason the retailers didn't seem to get that particular memo. And our Canadian Thanksgiving is in October so that means the entire 'holiday' thing seems to go on forever.

  4. Hi Mary Anne. I love your fabric postcards! Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to get back into some handwork again. And I printed off that carrot cake jam recipe to try next year. This year, everyone is getting apricot! LOL

  6. Carrot Cake Jam - my first thought was, "Why?" Then I checked out the link, I concluded "Why not!?! lol Those will make terrific, and I imagine unique gifts. You've got a lot of eye candy here this week, Mary Anne. Love the Mario quilt, and the different buttons on the sweater make that too fun! And oh, to be the lucky recipient of one of your cards. Very thoughtful gifts those are, too.

    1. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing by making most of my gifts, but then I stop and realize that it's the way I show my love for my family and friends.

  10. How very cute this Mario quilt is and the pillowcase completes the bed nicely. You are such a good Grandma! Love the little sweater too. Your lace card and CQ postcards are lovely. I just got my International Christmas cards in the mail this week. One never knows how long they will be traveling to their destinations. We finally have rain after 155 days of complete dryness. Our trees and plants are drinking in the glorious water. Blessings Dear.

    1. Yay for the rain! It's about time! Hopefully it's not just a one-off too. I'm late getting my Christmas mail out too but hopefully there will be a miracle and it will arrive in time.

  11. Do you ever sleep Mary Anne? So many items made and all wonderful. Your G'son will be tickled pink with the Mario pillow and quilt. The little jumper looks good as do those buttons.
Love the postcards. Your cousin will love the lace one and it's good to know the machine has saved some stitching time. All the seams are so pretty.
The Resident Chef's jam looks tasty too. I hadn't heard of this jam.
