Absence explained, and tarnished silver

Sorry about being AWOL from my blog for a few days but we've been enjoyed a nice visit with our #2 son and daughter-in-love who live in BC.  They decided to fly home for a wedding and we got to have them with us for three whole days!  Needless to say the computer was the furthest thing from my mind!

Here they are, having fun, with the tree they planted at
their wedding.

Thought you might like to see my current 'collection' of tarnished silver pieces.  The piece on the left has a lovely lid so it's perfect to hold my sewing pins.  The rest are holding assorted pencils, scissors and such.  Would love to stumble across a large coffee pot that could be turned into a lamp.  I'm sure I'll find one someday!

Today the quote is from Martin Luther King.... "If a man hasn't discovered something that he would die for, he isn't fit to live"

  3. Many years ago I was co-erced into helping a relative clean her large collection of silver in preparation for a special occasion...and it turned me off silver for life...

  4. I do buy the magazine at a local shop. It really would be a shame to loose it! Your tarnished silver collection is great!

So glad you had some fun time with #2 son & DDIL. Nice surprise. Love your silver caddy's too. (You know how I feel about silver) LOL I use my S&P to hold long darning needles, straight pins and beading threaders & needles.

  7. I got rid of my silver a long time ago. I never polished it or used it and my daughter did not want it so Bye Bye.

Glad you had a fun visit.

I read that Mary's post brought a lot of new subscriptions to Inspirations. I love the magazine, but it's so expense here in the states and I like to have the paper in my hand rather than a digital copy.
    xx,

  8. Don't have to apologize for being busy with life!!! Being flexible is just part of it!
Love your silver, Google has a tutorial on cleaning silver the easy way, it comes out with most of the tarnish gone with just a bit left for the patina effect. the process uses aluminum foil, soda and hot water, amazingly easy and great results.
Your son and daughter-in-law are so cute!

  9. I do hope the magazine survives. My daughter works in print media and they have so much competition from online products and apps etc, etc...
We won't really value print until we no longer have it.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
