On acquisitions and shootings

I'll bet THAT post title got you wondering, didn't it!!

First of all I have to show you what I was just gifted with, and that I'm absolutely thrilled to now own....

This wedding dress is over 58 years old and is
in beautiful condition, with only a couple of
minor stains.
It came with this...

It is absolutely beautiful and to be
entrusted with it is a huge honour.
It will certainly be appearing in some of my creations!

+++++++++++++++

The shooting part of this post involves my usual feeling of  'shoot me now' when I have to do any form of public speaking.  Tonight I have been asked to do a trunk show of my crazy quilting pieces for the local night-time quilt guild.  Fortunately they only (!) have 50 members and, because they're now calling for freezing rain, hopefully they won't show up!!!  I really do hate having to speak in public (as my many, many trips to the bathroom prior to the event will attest!).  One of my friends, upon hearing that indelicate comment, very brightly said that I should look on the bright side...at least I don't have to pay for a cleanse!!!

Today's quote is from Ray Bradbury....  "Living at risk is jumping off the cliff and building your wings on the way down"

  1. Good luck on the talk...youll do fine. I don't speak well in public, but when you know your subject well and get into it, it can be easier than you think.

That dress is absolutely beautiful. I was going to buy one once but couldn't bring myself to think about cutting it up. I did have a blog friend that cut one up and sold pieces of it in her etsy shop.

  3. Well, I've found that if you like your subject, then talking about it will be ok once you get started. LUV your purse in the previous post--lovely!

  4. Good luck tonight. I know you will do well and just think - you are among friends. They came to see your stuff so go on and brag. Little tidbits of stories on how things came to be may help.

  5. What a gorgeous, gorgeous dress! Good luck with the presentation. I too intensely dislike public speaking and my nerves come out in shakiness - hands and head. Hope you'll be able to relax and talk about your crazy quilting just fine. Good luck!

  10. Oh, what a lovely treasure!
I'm sure once you begin, you'll be fine! At least you'll be speaking about something you love! That should make it easier.

  12. Now that's a lot of lovely fabric , but too bad you won't have time to work with it. A baby trumps stitching!!

What are you going to do with the headpiece?

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
