Hi ho, hi ho, a shoveling we will go....

Yesterday we took our cat, Cosmo, to live with our #1 son and d-i-l.    DH has developed allergies and, with the carpet we are required to have in the apartment, of course it just holds the cat hair and compounds the problems.  The kids very nicely offered to take Cosmo so we delivered him to his new home where he and the already-resident Ella (cat) will be duking it out for who will be top cat.  I can say with pretty much 100% certainty that it will be Ella because Cosmo is a lover, not a fighter.

So now the huge clean-up at Chez Magpie begins....every piece of furniture must be moved (and cleaned thoroughly) in quest of the ever-elusive fur bunnies that seem to be able to manage to worm their way into everything.

Needless to say there will be several garbage bags filled with 'stuff' we no longer want/need/and wonder why we had in the first place that will have to be donated somewhere, along with more bags filled with just plain junk.  Yikes, we haven't even been here for two years yet -how does 'stuff' manage to multiply so much??

The worst will be my studio.  Having to move all the furniture that's in here to vacuum behind it is a daunting task.  If you don't hear from me for a week.....send reinforcements.....

  1. When I had my new kitchen put in, my mom said, the more cupboards you have the more stuff you accumulate. We have sorted and given away a lot of stuff that was in there and guess what, there's more. I haven't a clue where the stuff comes from.
    Good luck with the cleaning.

  2. everytime i empty the vacuum i could spin or felt a new animal.....and we have wood floors with NO rugs--easier to watch the fluff balls blow into corners and under the couch :)

  3. Oh Maggie that is too bad but luckily your son could take him. Allergies are no fun. My oldest son had terrible reactions to staying anywhere there was a cat including emergency room visits.

Now you really can say you are "empty nesters".

  4. I remember a visit to the allergist's office many years ago..."Go home and get rid of the cat, TODAY". I don't envy the clean up job ahead of you...but think how nice it will be when it is all complete! Hope the Mr. is feeling better very soon.

  5. Oh I'm so sorry that you have to rehome Cosmo. My DH also is very allergic to cats and really have to watch it when we go to people's homes with cats. And as luck would have it we have to feed a friend's cats while he's out of town for a few days. I think that I'll try to take of that so that DH doesn't have to go in the house.

At least you'll be able to visit Cosmo sometimes. When my brother got married my SIL was too allergic to live with his cat. She said that she cried all the way to shelter to find a new home for it.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
