Wedding!

Saturday was the wedding of our second son Shawn and his beautiful bride Winnie.  The weather cleared up just in time for the outdoor ceremony which was a huge relief.

My pictures really aren't the best because they were taken on the fly.  I know there are better ones coming from the official photographer but in the meantime I thought you might like to see these.

Shawn and Winnie chose to plant a tree to commemorate their wedding which was held at our friends three acre property in the country.  A tree seemed to be fitting,  Their cake was made of rice krispies held together by peanut butter and corn syrup (an old family recipe) and they cut it using the knife Jack and I used at our wedding almost 32 years ago.

Sorry the pictures aren't the best!

blogging hiatus for a few days!

Just a wee note to my faithful (?!!) readers to let you know that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth if you don't see any posts from me for a few days.  #2 son is getting married on Saturday and we are chauffeurs, chefs, hoteliers, and all sorts of other titles I'm sure will be bestowed upon us before the weekend is over!

Feel free to talk amongst yourselves and I'll see you on the other side!

And.......drum roll.......

THE WINNER OF THE DOLL

GIVEAWAY IS.......

(after the scientific process of writing the names on
equal sized pieces of paper,
vigorously
stirring
about,

trudging up the stairs,
and asking Jack to
draw a name....)

Joyce!!

Congratulations Joyce!  Unfortunately you might have to wait awhile to get your prize because of the postal strike, but I will mail her off as soon as I can.  I know she will enjoy living with you.

Thank you to everyone who entered for a chance to win.  Stay tuned, because there might be another one coming up.

the great master baker

Jack has been making pies...
12 of them, to be exact.

This lot are cherry,
and the others were apple.

Guess what dessert will be for the wedding?

Three forward, four back, seven forward

Yep, that's what I've been counting lately.  Wanna see why??

What's that, you say?

well, it's the beaded edge of the wedding veil
for our next d-i-l-to-be.

The 3 forward, 4 back, 7 forward title of this post refers to the
way I beaded it.

The hair piece part looks like this at the moment...

The bride will decide next week if she would like beading on this part too or whether she prefers the more understated look.

June 25th is 'THE DAY"
just hope it doesn't rain!!

Oh drat!!!

I am SO very sorry Yvonne that your  pages didn't show up when I posted Anneelaws journal.  I don't know WHY they aren't there because I distinctly remember posting them.  Argh!!  I just went in and tried to edit that post to add the pictures and they still wouldn't take.

I will try to repost and hopefully it will work, but in the
meantime, here they are,
with apologies to Yvonne.

Time for a giveaway!

It's been awhile since I've had a giveaway and, because I'm downsizing, I've decided that this time perhaps you'd like a chance to win one of my dolls.  I won't be able to take all my dolls to the apartment so this one is on the chopping block.  She's approximately 20 inches tall and comes complete with a wooden rocking chair.

If you think you would like this doll to come to live with you, please leave a comment (on this post only) telling me why.  I will make the draw one week from today (June 18th).

Anneelaw - journal pages

Sorry it took me a few days to find time to do this post.  I've been having trouble with uploading pictures and they've been taking forever so I have to wait until I have a good chunk of time in order to upload anything.

Without further fuss, here are the journal pages (and the journal box they're stored in)....

Above is the journal box as I sent it out,
and below as it is now.
It's hard to tell in this picture, but the
little red  beads are actually lights!

Below are the four journal pages I started her off with...

Arlee did these....

These were by Robyn...

These by Amy...

These two (above and below) are by Talitha.

and finally, these are by Gail...

Aren't they great??!!

EDITED TO ADD:
Yvonne very nicely let me know that her pages weren't posted here.  I'm not quite sure why they didn't show up because I do remember posting them.
My apologies Yvonne!

Here they are....

Anneelaw is home!

Do you remember this?
Several months ago I sent this metal and glass contraption out into the world in the hopes that my creative friends would be able to turn it into a doll.  The base as shown here is made from parts of an old table lamp.  Our challenge was to create a portion of a doll (for instance, a head and the torso) but not a complete body.  As the doll traveled to the different artists in the group it was up to them to add the body parts (or not, depending on their whim).  I am absolutely blown away by what has come home to me!!
PLEASE MEET
ANNEELAW...

Isn't she incredible?
To say that the artists in this collaboration
are talented has to be an understatement!

Would you believe that she was even outfitted with a light in order to keep her true to her roots?  She is most definitely a society gal out for afternoon tea with her friends (or is she perhaps on her own and looking for a man??).

My thanks to the artists who contributed so brilliantly - Gail (our fearless leader); Arlee, Amy, Robyn, Talitha and Yvonne.  Please be sure to go to our group blog to see all the other wonderful dolls that were created.  All of them are spectacular!

Tomorrow I will post pictures of her travel journal...stay tuned!

Quilts - part two...

Here are a few more of my favourite quilts
that were on displace at our local
quilt guild show this past weekend...
