I've been working on the latest in my little landscape series and the eagle-eyed among you will maybe notice that his shirt colour has changed. The first version blended in too much with the water. That was a minor oops but a bigger one happened when I added the organza over the water area and the iron touched it when I was fusing the 'new' shirt and....horrors....melted it. That's the first time that has ever happened and I've used the same process before. I rather wonder if my iron is wearing out. At any rate, I appliqued a bit more of the organza on top of the offending area and will end up embroidering plants over top to blend it in. Gives me an excuse to do more embroidery!

Today's quote isn't a quote per se, but something I wanted to share...

your landscape keeps getting better and better!!!
ReplyDeletei never stopped to think about bees needing a safe water source - good to know, thank you.
Thank you. As for the bees we have to do whatever we can to protect them because our lives depend upon it.
DeleteI do like the red shirt--oopseys are the challenges aren't they? Turning them into positives shows true creativeness as you have done...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly much happier with the red shirt. Luckily it was an easy fix, iron accident notwithstanding.
DeleteI'm on Team Bee! I'll make them a bee boat.
ReplyDeleteWe've never seen a bee on our balcony so I doubt it would work for us, but I shared in hopes others would be able (and willing) to use the tip. Anything we can do to save the bees.
DeleteSuch a poignant theme in your new creation.
ReplyDeleteI'm having great fun with this little series of 'him and me'. I have at least one more in mind.
DeleteI put a shallow saucer - like the kind under a plant pot - in the garden, filled with marbles and pebbles and a little water. I haven't seen bees use it, but it's there if they need it. Mosquitoes are so bad here I can't have much standing water except the goats' troughs and the wildlife basin, and I keep an eagle eye on those and dump daily if I see wrigglers.
ReplyDeleteGood tip Quinn - thank you! Standing water isn't a good idea when it's mosquito season, for sure.
