Four pairs of adult-sized lounge pants - ✔ (well, all but the drawstrings that are on the way). I used McCall's # 4244 for three of them and McCall's 4979 for the green pair.
Four pillowcases for the grandies - ✔ I use the burrito-method and the tutorial can be found HERE
Our local food bank's November food drive is rather a fun one so I thought I'd post it here in case you'd like to go shopping for YOUR local area. We don't (obviously) buy and deliver one thing each day but we put it all together into one larger donation. We also buy multiples of many of the items. When we drop it all off we give them our grocery receipt and they send us a tax deduction. Win/win!
- THIS, along with a bottle of nice apple juice, would be a nice little gift at Christmas.
- THESE are really cute and would make a wonderful gift for a little someone in your life.
- THIS might be a nice gift for a family.

Today's quote is from Dr. Jane Goodall..."Let us move forward with faith in ourselves, in our intelligence, in our indomitable spirit. Let us develop respect for all living things. Let us try to replace violence and intolerance with understanding and compassion and love"

Thanks for the food bank encouragement. It's needed always not just in these times of crisis.
ReplyDeleteFor sure! I think the food bank has come up with a fun way to encourage donations with this incentive.
DeleteGreat progress on your sewing;))) Cute pillowcases, too...you have been busy;))) Hugs for a good week Julierose
ReplyDeleteThanks Julierose. Pillowcases are on the list every year and the kids look forward to them.
DeleteEverywhere I go, there are people donating food. It is good to see. Thank you for pillowcase link!
ReplyDeleteDonating food is a good thing, particularly in these times.
DeleteLooks like you put some miles on your sewing machine!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's been pedal to the floor for a few days, for sure.
Deletethat food bank idea is so neat, and would be very welcome for many people. Great idea.......
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun way to help the cause and hopefully encourage people to donate.
Deleteforgot to add, great links as always!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them!
DeleteWonderful post and great reminder. 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda
DeleteI have a few things I need to drop off at our food bank next week. We are also doing a collection at church and so I will take a few things there before the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteLove the sleep pants.
God bless.
I'm looking forward to doing the advent - it's a fun activity that helps so many people. It's sad to say that food banks are becoming more and more necessary.
DeleteWish lists are always a good way to encourage donations, and this calendar version is one I haven't seem before. I hope it is hugely successful.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the third year they've done this (although they might have been doing it longer, but that's how long we've played along).
DeleteA friend of mine is putting together some "casseroles in a bag" for the local food pantry, and she invited a group of us to contribute. It was such a clever idea - I think it would be kind of exciting to get one. Love the lounge pants. I bought a 99cent McCall's pattern recently to make such pants. Now you've inspired me to look for some fabric!
ReplyDeleteCasseroles in a bag sounds like a fun idea - perhaps I'll mention it to the local food bank people when we drop off our advent things.
DeleteSleep pants are a huge hit for our adult kids and I know they wear them happily.
