Yep, there are piles appearing in my sewing studio! Firstly these flannelette fabrics appeared at my door which will be turned into sleep pants for my family for Christmas...
AND....the yardage arrived so I can start my fusion quilt!.....
- Lots of quilters eye candy HERE! And there's more HERE too! And HERE!
- THIS caught my eye simply because it would be a good way to use up scraps...even using two yarns together would work.
- You know I like denim, so of course THIS caught my eye.
- HERE's something you might like to make for fall.
- Have a peek through the gallery pages of THIS amazing artist.
Today's quote..."Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone"
Do you have a favorite fabric source?
ReplyDeleteI really don't have a favourite because I try to spread my business around to help out as many small Canadian shops as I can. Overall I would have to say a favourite is Lens Mill (which is only Canadian I think) because they offer both fabric and yarn, plus really fast shipping. When our family lived near one of their outlets I could shop in person but now I have to rely on mail order.
DeleteIt's so inspiring to see all the creative energy you have, and that quote is such a beautiful and thoughtful way to remember loved ones. www.melodyjacob.com
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's so much creative energy as it is not wanting to be bored! I can't sit and do nothing so it's nice to have projects waiting for me to play with.
DeleteLove these fabrics! I can't wait to see your PJ pants! My grandma made us all matching Christmas pajamas one year & it was so sweet.
ReplyDeleteOur family loves my PJ pants so I know a new pair will be welcome. They use them for lounging in more than for sleeping in.
DeleteLook at all the squishy loveliness that showed up on your doorstep. I plan on making Harvey a new pair of sleep pants this Christmas as well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It's pretty much a given that new lounge pants go to all the adults in the family and last year I started making full pj's for the grandies. Once they reach their teens I will switch to only doing pants for them too (provided I'm still able to sew, that is!)
DeleteThe backing fabric for your fusion quilt is pretty. I must say I love the exhibited quilt with the applique flowers sewn onto a shibori dyed wholecloth background. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the fabric is finally here (and just before the latest postal strike).
DeleteGuess who finally figured out how to access her Feedly page, so she can easily find her favorite blogs again!!! So happy to be here, catching up on your many creative projects :) Like RC, I also organized all my herbs and spices recently, though not in matching jars. Baby steps :) Even after winnowing, they still take up two shallow storage boxes, plus the spice rack in my kitchen for the "used most often." Your new landscape reminds me of a beautiful old farmhouse house I rented in Colorado, long long ago. And a rookie fabric question: what is the difference between flannel and flannelette? Is one thinner than the other?
ReplyDeleteYay, glad you figured out Feedly! As far as I can tell the difference between flannel and flannelette is the weight with flannel being heavier. Flannelette is a brushed cotton that's soft and mimics the feel of flannel without the additional weight. Our kids want the lighter weight.
Deleteand now i will be lost in thought of the things i love most about the ones who have gone ... maybe i should take notes...
ReplyDeleteNotes would be a good idea - and something to hand down to other family members.
DeleteI love the quote so much. enjoyed the sydney show, like that crocheted afghan, the artist was amazing

I rather liked that quote when I saw it too.
DeleteSherryofcreateology: Hello MA Dear: I have been MIA due to a fall and resulting concussion and broken clavicle. Of course it is my right shoulder and I am right handed everything. Spent two days in the hospital. Of course they have NO diagnosis. This happened to me 5 1/2 years ago with NO results. NO driving. No classes. No nothing! Lots of pain. I am just supposed to recuperate and the break will take 6 months to one year. “This Shall Pass Too!”
ReplyDeleteOh no Sherry - I didn't realize that you had fallen and hurt yourself to that extent. And there's nothing they can do to help you heal? That's really hard and even more so when it's your right side. Awwwww {{{{{{you}}}}}}}
