A beginning....sort of...maybe?

I have a commission to create a landscape that features a lovely home owned by the family of 'the commissioner' so I've been putzing about with possible backgrounds.  This is one of them....

- I think THESE are rather cute for fall decor.

- THESE caught my eye (and not hard to make either).

- THIS little fellow is awwww-worthy.

- Have you ever wondered what those coloured bands on sewing machine needles mean?  Well, go HERE to have the mystery solved.

Today's quote is from George Carlin...."We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our values.  We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.  We've learned how to make a living but not a life.  We've added years to life, not life to years"

  1. I just all the fall decor ideas. Do you remember when Yo-Yo's were the in thing? Loved making them.

    1. I think yo-yo's have really never gone away but I do agree I'm seeing more projects using them right now.

    1. Yes, I was surprised about the needles too...who knew!
Not sure that this will be the start of the actual commission - I have a couple other options for my friend to choose from so we'll see what she likes best.

    1. This was fun to do - something a little different and reminded me somewhat of the Kawandi method.

  4. I like that sample start. Will the buyer be involved at several stages?

    1. She's actually going to be away for about six weeks so once the background is chosen it will be up to me.

  5. Your first sample is a lovely start. I suppose if you make several beginning samples you will have a few all ready to go for other landscapes. About the different colours on Schmetz needles, I thought the different colours were for different applications....fabrics, but now I know. Aren't those fabric flowers with the centre rings fabulous ??

    1. I can certainly use this background for another landscape at some point so it wasn't a waste of time to create it.

  6. It looks like the start of an impressionist painting. :)

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
