I know I promised you a post this morning but Mother Nature put somewhat of a damper on my plans. A massive summer storm blew (!!!) through and knocked our power out for over 25 hours. It just came back on mid-afternoon yesterday so I haven't had enough time to prepare a post for you. There was a lot of local damage from the storm (yet to be determined if a tornado touched down but all indications point in that direction). I've never heard a sound quite like it - continuous thunder that didn't stop. We count ourselves most fortunate though because not too far from here a town is under a state of emergency with massive damage and power outage that is reported might be lasting for days before it can be repaired. At last count 8 lives have been lost. The winds uprooted a big tree just a few feet north of our building so it was pretty scary.
So, I'm sorry, but there's not much else to share for you today. I have been working on a crochet project which hopefully I'll be able to show you in my next post.
Yikes!!! Glad you didn't sustain big damage but to be without power that long!!! That's bad too!
ReplyDeleteWe consider ourselves very fortunate because my aunt & uncle have been without power since the storm hit and no sign of it coming back on anytime soon. Major damage where they live.
DeleteNever mind about blogging, I'm so glad you're okay. That sort of storm is terrifying, the noise particularly. So recover, and stitch on. We can wait for links.
ReplyDeleteWe're okay and very grateful. We covered our fridge and freezer in blankets and everything was fine.
DeleteIt was pretty wild here too but we didn't loose power or have any damage. I think we are protected by the lake..the storms seem to split and miss us.
ReplyDeleteYou were lucky, for sure. One of the big trees in front of 'A' building was torn out by the roots. Pretty sobering when we saw that.
DeleteGlad y'al are all right! What a horror to go through. Take it easy. Blog when you have time.
ReplyDeleteWe're fine but there are some areas that certainly are going through a lot.
DeleteGlad to hear you are OK. Very worrying to lose your power for so long! Hope the storm has all gone now.
ReplyDeleteBarbara xx
Storm is long gone but the clean up will take awhile. Lots of chainsaws being put to use.
DeleteGlad to hear that you're safe. Being without power that long is no picnic I know. The weather is so screwy these days.
ReplyDeleteYes, the weather certainly is odd these days and one wonders if it is only going to get worse. Best, I guess, to make sure you're prepared as much as possible. We wrapped our fridge and freezer in blankets to try to keep their temperature and it helped I think.
DeleteStrange weather we are getting. You get massive windstorms and we get snow and frost. Mother Nature seems to be a bit nuts right now. A friend of mine whose son lives in Gatineau is still without power today
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It does seem as though the weather patterns are going to extremes - a result of global warming I'm sure. I have relatives in Uxbridge and they are under a state of emergency and still no power...could be days yet, at least according to the news.
DeleteGlad to hear that you are safe and sound Mary Anne, that is the main thing! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteYes, we're safe and, according to what has happened around us, extremely lucky that we only lost power for 25 hours. Many are still without.
