From the kitchen of Resident Chef.....

Over the weekend Resident Chef had a hankering (altho' why I'm not quite sure) and decided that the one lonely packet of Liquid Certo in the pantry was crying out to be combined with frozen blueberries into freezer jam.  See?.....

The puzzlement to me is why he would want to do this because blueberries aren't his favourite.  Oh well, I expect we'll manage to eat it!!

There was something creative happening in the sewing room too, but I can't show you until Wednesday.  I will however give you a teeny little glimpse....

After a little over a week of using the new format Blog-grrr I have to say that it's working out quite well.  There were a few hiccups at the beginning - not because of the format being an issue but stemming from me needing to figure out some slight changes they've made.  Everything I've always used is still there, just perhaps not in the exact same location.  The only difference I've found to be a slight problem (and it's a simple matter of training my brain!) is that I can no longer click the 'Open This Link In A New Window' and have it stay clicked.  It must be done each time I do a link and I'm having a hard time remembering that little step.  So I do apologize if some of the links aren't quite acting the way you prefer them to.  I WILL get it into my brain eventually (or who knows, perhaps they'll realize and fix it on Blog-grrrr's end).  So....if you're contemplating making the leap (which is going to happen regardless) don't be afraid!

  1. I notice that blogger has attended to some of the complaints that a lot of us registered, so I'm glad I shouted. They fixed the photo selection and the label function, which were hopelessly buggy at first. So early adopters, take a bow!

I'm so relieved that MDK has finally realized what that name meant, and changed it. Naivety on their part, and they're making great efforts at amends and paying attention to the poc in the fiberarts world.

    1. How did you go about the shouting? I'd let them know about the link issue if I knew how.
Yes, I agree that the original name for MDK was most likely naive and it's a step in the right direction to address it and make the necessary changes to their brand.

    2. I found a link in the pkace where they're encouraging people to try the new format. I found a lot of people's similar comments too. They've had plenty of pushback for rolling out a buggy version out and expecting unpaid users to flag the problems. I suspect they're saving money by not using test people to spot the problems.

    3. Thanks Liz - I'll see if I can find the section and let them know and hopefully they'll come up with a fix.

  2. anytime you get help in the kitchen best to just grin and bear it....lol....and hmmmm...what is that "crazy" looking pink piece going to turn into??? I know I've said it before but THANKS so much for the links you post. I am already planning to make one of those American Girl outfits! I do totally understand the reason for the name change for Mason Dixon and I am all for equal rights (also being a minority) but I also think our country is getting rid of much of it's history with the dismantling of many statues, etc....wish there was a way to appease and be fair without losing that.....

    1. I don't get help in the kitchen - Resident Chef is the one and only and it's completely his domain (with very rare forays in there from me to make soap or perhaps a dessert once in awhile). When he retired he took over the cooking duties with, I might add, my complete blessing!!!
I agree that dismantling the statues is carrying it a bit too far in many ways. I'm in Canada and it's happening here too. It is our history and can't be changed. What can be changed is the way we move forward.

    2. Perfectly said! And you'd better stay outta the kitchen then! (grin)

    3. Oh I do! Best to leave Resident Chef to measure, mix and stir on his own, otherwise he might just hand the job back to me!!

  3. Well, that pink/red (heart?) looks like it will be morphed into something really stunning...
I lost (misplaced?) my prepped CQ blocks--SIX of them--[See, cleaning up and putting away doesn't always result in better sewing!!] I have searched high and low and NADA--they are probably doing the boog-aloo along with my husband's missing pliers...
the blocks were to be my deck sewing this year...Will have to have a chat with St. Jude...;))))
    Hugs from a searcher--Julierose

    1. I hope it's morphed into something useful! Will post more on Wednesday.
Boogalooing with your DH's pliers - that's funny! I hope both reappear once they have it out of their systems.

  4. Liked the American Girl bed idea with the storage. That's an excellent idea. The quote made me laugh out loud :)

    1. Alas I have no little girls in my life that need one of those beds, but they would be fun to make. Glad you enjoyed the quote!

  5. At first glance I thought you had dyed your CQ fabrics in whatever Resident Chef was cooking up. Blueberries do make a delightful pinky color.
I am not a fan of whole blueberries because of the little seeds but I do like them smooshed and in a cobbler or such. <3

    1. Resident Chef doesn't like the seeds either - so not quite sure why he decided jam was such a good idea. Oh well, I'll certainly eat my fair share! I'm afraid I love blueberries too much to use them for dye though.

  6. I love your finished landscape picture! What a talent you have! I can imagine the freezer jam will be enjoyed...hot biscuits, butter and jam...yummy! Now, I will go check out the American Girl link. My granddaughters love their dolls so I am always looking for ideas for them. Thanks!

    1. Thank you! I have fun with what I do and just hope for something that ends up looking at least somewhat like the original. Resident Chef makes several different kinds of biscuits so I'm sure the jam will be anointing some of them.

  7. Looking forward to seeing what your new project is. And I'm really curious about the changes people are experiencing with Blogger. I haven't experienced any changes with my blog. I'm so sorry you went to the trouble of figuring out how to make links in new windows and now it doesn't set the change as the default. I wonder if that is a glitch.

    1. Re the changes with Blogger - I received a notice that the changes would be happening to everyone in the very near future and I was given the option to switch early. Perhaps not everyone got that notice? At any rate, if/when it happens it's not a huge deal. Hopefully they will fix the default link issue and in the meantime I will just retrain my brain (hah!).

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
