Another finish

I usually spend my evenings with knitting needles in hand and this is what has just come off the needles...

The pattern is 'Wonder Years' by Elizabeth Smith and can be found HERE.  I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn for the main body and the stripes were mystery yarn from my stash.  Size 7-8, which I hope will be just a little large for our #1 grandson.

Today's quote...."Your current situation is giving you an opportunity to re-evaluate what you want"

  1. Just caught up on your posts and an enjoyable read it was. Blueberry jam is a great idea-even better having a man who wants to make it! Lovely knitting and thanks very much for the links. Already checked out two...the scrappy mystery SAl and the garden one.

    1. Glad you enjoyed your visit Jocelyn! My Resident Chef is fearless in the kitchen and it's amazing what he manages to come up with. WAY better cook than I could ever hope to be (could be why our sons are both great cooks - one is a chef).

  2. Nice sweater:) Interesting use of old patterns. I'm sorely tempted to join the scrappy quilt but I'm not a quilter.

    1. Thanks Mary Ann - hopefully #1 'Grand' will like it (and even more important, whether it will fit!). I don't think you have to be a 'quilter' to join the mystery quilt project. As long as you can sew seams and cut fabric I think you'd be good.

    1. First time I've worked with that yarn and I have to say it was lovely - so soft. Certainly makes a nice sweater so I know I'll be using it again.
      Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Your evening knitting needles sure do work magic with your hands guiding them. Great boys sweater. Such fun links...I have used many vintage sewing patterns for all kinds of crafting and package wrapping...I am grateful you take the time to share them with us. Very hot here and still extremely windy.

    1. Our heat is gone again and it's back to being quite cool. One wonders if that's what the rest of the summer will be like. Glad you enjoy the links Sherry.

  5. That multi pocket apron isn't just for gardens. Useful for crafters too. Or artists. My cook's apron has just one double pocket and could use more.

    I'd say go for it!

    1. I don't suppose I'd ever use it. I'm not really an apron person altho' I can see the use for this one in a garden. As far as using one when crafting - everything in my sewing space is within each reach. Good idea for those who could use it though!

    1. Thank you! The sweater is heading out in the mail tomorrow to our grandson - hopefully he'll get some wear out of it before he outgrows it!

  7. Ah, my sewing space is wherever I happen to be, so I like stuff portable. Different strokes.

    1. Good thing my sewing space is pretty stationery or the entire place would be a huge mess (and, no doubt, I would be divorced long ago!).

    1. I don't knit big people sweaters, only those for little guys. Knitting a big one would be a life's work I think!

    1. I know I need to knit for them now because it's certain the day will come when they will turn their noses up at anything that's not found in a store.
