Ahhhhh.......

Ahhhhhhh.

Some fabric therapy!

Yesterday I had the best day.  Not only one, but two, influxes of fabric for my stash!

First of all, this arrived in the mailbox.....

I was a lucky winner in a fun blog hop that was organized to honor a lovely quilter named Paula Budinger.  I was fortunate to have my name drawn by Janice Holton (go HERE to see her fun blog) for a gift certificate to a fabric shop in Texas.  Of course I live in Canada and it was highly unlikely that the shop would ship here, or if they did the postage costs would be astronomical.  Janice, bless her, offered to purchase a gift certificate from a shop here in Ontario instead.  Of course I added to the gift certificate amount and ended up with the goodies you see above.  The green and white on the left will be added to my landscape fabric stash and the yellows will go along with the two jelly rolls to (I think!) make hexxies towards a sort of Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt.  Yes, I know....moi.....contemplating making a 'sane' quilt.  What's this world coming to?   THANK YOU JANICE - I'm going to have hours of fun!
AND....

I braved the elements and made a foray to a small quilt shop that's not too far from here.  What fun I had looking through all her fabrics and notions and I came home with a few things....

Most of these are earmarked for additions to landscapes but there are a couple of 'just because' in the pile.

ahhhhhh.....fabric therapy.....

  1. Lovely new fabric--there is nothing quite like receiving "squishy mail" ;)))
I like your choices for the hexagons...that should be really pretty.

I use the freezer paper templates method; cut with my Accuquilt die which has templates for papers and for fabric right on it. Before I had this die, I just "eyeballed" the seam allowances on the fabrics...
Have fun petting the new fabrics.. hugs from my homebase Julierose

    1. Squishy mail is indeed the best! I'm pretty happy to have some new life in my stash. Unfortunately I don't have an Accuquilt system but I DO have a Resident Chef who willingly helped me cut papers for the hexxies.

  2. Lucky you :) I wish I could go to a fabric store...then again maybe not. I might go on a fabric frenzy...LOL

    1. It took me a long time to muster the courage to go and I finally emailed the shop owner and asked what her protocols were. She said maximum of 3 customers in the store and only one person allowed in each aisle - masks to be worn and hand sanitizer available. It worked out quite well because the other shoppers were more than willing to abide by her guidelines. Took me a long time to make my choices because I wanted WAY more than I could afford!

  3. New fabric is always nice. I have an appointment at the fabric shop in Halifax on Monday at Sew With Vision. They are having Mondays & Tuesdays by appointment only. I have to make a return of sticky water soluble interfacing. Thought it was the regular kind.

    1. Well I just learned something - didn't know there was such a thing as sticky water soluble. Interesting to know. I bought some at the fabric shop so now I'll have to check it to see if it's the sticky type.

  5. Love your choices of fabric MA. If you aren't a regular shopper in these stores, then it's not surprising you'd want to see Everything available. The Resident Chef has many strings to his bow- that is an impressive amount of hexies cut and waiting for your fabrics. Enjoy!

    1. I'd only been to this shop once before so it was interesting to have a good look to see what she has available. Some really surprising things like washaway stabilizer that I'd been searching for.

  6. Congrats on being a winner during the blog hop! That was nice of Janice to work with you on that. What fun goodies you got! Oh, and thanks, too, for those great links the other day for the vintage linens. I’m going to gather up all my possibilities and see what I can come up with!

    1. I was pretty excited when I heard she drew my name but because of many stores refusing to mail to Canada (to say nothing about the costs for shipping if they do) I suggested she should draw for someone else that lived in the US but she wouldn't hear of it. It was her idea to work through a CDN shop which was so nice of her to do. Glad you saw something interesting in the links!

  7. Fabric therapy indeed! Love those purple and greens. I cannot wait to see how your Grandmother's Flower Garden grows. Resident Chef not only cooks phenomenal gastronomical delights but he can cut hexies as well. Me thinks he is a keeper. =)

    1. Oh yes, Resident Chef is most definitely a keeper! I don't know of too many husbands that would be willing to sit with scissors in hand cutting hexxies for their wives. Can't convince him he should learn to knit though.
