And so it begins!
Not only an entirely new decade, but also the grande clear out of January 2020! Are you ready?
Ah, but I hate to tell you some of my crap is about to become your crap (or at least on the way to your crapping group...oh, sorry....crafting group.....)
What's the destination for all the fabric scraps? And isn't it great when the drawers close? Good for you. Speaking as one who already has a carload for the thriftie and an agreement for help with bringing down sorted and bundled stuff from the studio Saturday.
Most of what I'm getting rid of is heading for either the thrift store or the local quilt guild free table. I also have a table booked at the members mall in February and will see if I can sell some of it. Very little is headed out to the garbage.
I figured you had the whole path thought out. I was just up in the studio in the tool and blade department, and notice I have put out at least four huge bundles into recycle, two carloads for the thriftie, and a total of one small bag for the garbage. I like this!
Great start, Mary Anne! I'm realizing something, though, as I read through this post (and look at the pictures). Crafters seeing what other crafters are getting rid of their crafty bits is a dangerous business. I can't help but see some things (in this case, fabrics) that I can imagine uses for. lol We are good at that, aren't we? I won't say anything more, as I don't want you second-guessing your decisions. Good going! You are definitely going to inspire me this month...
One of those cases where the grass seems always greener on the other side of the fence? Only in this case it's crafting supplies. No worries about me second guessing anything - I'm one of those people who once it's decided upon, it's gone. It's not that I don't still have tons to work with!! You, my friend, were my inspiration to even start this process!
I would so love to commit to this and might to some degree. I'm retiring from my job end of June and when people ask me what I'm going to do the first thing I tell them is clean my house - if they only knew. If I start with something like this I won't have such a big job in July.....let me think on that.
Hope you do decide to play along Lorraine. It's a great feeling to get rid of 'stuff' you really don't need and mostly have forgotten you had (speaking for myself, of course!)
We’ll, I guess you know I’ll be doing aloof that too....all through the house! I can’t do it everyday. I get too involved and would not get anything else done. I am going to search fora list of groups and see what any of them need. I know there are elderly ladies that meet to crochet and sew for those in need. Happy New Year. Xx, Carol
Congratulations Dear on your excellent beginning of January and your challenge of eliminating at least 5 things each day! WOW! You are quite the overachiever with all of these fabric scraps eliminated. Isn’t it pure JOY to be able to close those drawers? May you and Resident Chef also reap the very best of 2020. <3
Oh yes, just looking at the closed drawers makes me very happy!! The fact that I don't have to paw through a ton of fabrics I really don't care for every time I want to do a project makes me even happier. Don't worry - I still have LOTS to choose from!
