Returned!

I'm back!  We had a wonderful two weeks spent in beautiful British Columbia with our #2 son and his family and although we're glad to be home, we also miss them horribly.  Spending a couple of weeks of time with our 3 year old grandson (lots of stories and Grandma playing with building blocks on the floor and Grandpa baking with him) was a complete joy.  We celebrated the 3rd birthday of our grandson and our 40th wedding anniversary while we were there.  Now we face having to get back into our regular lives, punctuated with having to take our car in the first day we were back for a brake job.  Not exactly the homecoming welcome we had hoped for!

Quite obviously there has been absolutely nothing creative happening here at Chez Magpie (altho' I did a little bit of knitting while we were away, but nothing ready to show), so alas there are no pictures to share.   Instead, I will show you a picture of something that happened a lot while we were there - Resident Chef Grandpa and his sidekick - in this photo they're making cookies.

Today's quote..."I am not a hoarder.  I just need a bigger craft room"  (wonder how many of us can identify with that?)

    1. Glad to be home - but also sorry to leave our family. Sort of a no-win situation. Now to get over the jet lag and get back into the groove of life.

    1. Of course - blogging is important!! Sleep can happen anytime. We've actually been home since late Tuesday night and Wednesday was a zombie day (punctuated by new brakes on the car). Starting to feel more human now.

    1. Thank you Sherry. We haven't really 'celebrated' our 40th, but plan on a nice supper out tomorrow night. We loved our trip and seriously didn't want to leave them, but home was calling too.

  6. Yey you're back and you had a wonderful visit! Grandchildren are so fun.
I don't have a stash but that's a good idea to keep track of inventory. I also noticed some wrist warmer patterns on that link, fall is official tomorrow.
Time to start thinking about how to stay warm.

    1. Grandkids are indeed fun! Three is a perfect age to play with and I must say he has a very vivid imagination. I'm refusing to succumb to tomorrow being the first day of fall. Maybe if I ignore it, summer will last longer.

    1. Baking is one of those things that memories are made of. Maybe Theo might be old enough to remember it for a long while, and if not the pictures will serve as a good reminder.

  8. I am not a hoarder, either. =) Just look at that sweet photo of grandpa and his sweet, little sidekick cooking up a storm. How fabulous you enjoyed such a wonderful time with your son and his family. 'Tis lovely to have you back, lovely Mary Anne.

    1. I don't have enough yarn stash to warrant that sort of inventory system either but I know a lot of people might benefit. We're happy to be home, but left huge pieces of our hearts with our family. Now we start saving so we can go back!

  9. I'm so happy you got to visit your family. We would love to go out to California to see my grands/great grands. Can't take the dogs with us and too expensive to board them. Hopefully they are coming here soon.
    xx, Carol

    1. It's so hard to have family living so far away. Thank goodness for Skype but it's just not the same as being able to give them real live hugs.

    1. Not the best photo, quality wise, but the subject matter is rather fun. Resident Chef and Theo spent lots of time baking together.

  12. welcome back! I was thinking about you all the time you were gone and I had big plans for comments but sadly failed miserably. (a self inflicted injury scuppered me a little too) I can only imagine how much you are now missing this little man and I'm betting he misses you just as much xxx

    1. Thanks Karen. Glad to be home, but sad to leave our family at the same time. I guess our little guy keeps asking for us when he gets up in the morning and we're not there. Sorry you hurted yourself - hopefully nothing too serious!

    1. Yes, we had a great trip. We didn't do anything 'tourist-y' but that's the way we like it. Spending time with our family was the most important thing.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
