In the background

While I've been sharing our quilt guild show with you, the studio here at Chez Magpie hasn't been idle.  I've been working on my latest landscape, as you can see from this picture...

Or at least I hope you can see!  I've quilted the snow and the sky and added more details on the elevator.

Today's quote...."The five types of people you should surround yourself with:  the inspired, the passionate, the motivated, the grateful, and the open minded"  (and I would add those with a sense of humour!).

  1. I love your progress and the sky and snow look very realistic with movement. The Grain Silo looks Wonderful. Fun links. I agree with your addition of humor for the people to surround one’s self. I hope you have Summer Sunshine.

    1. Alas, more rain here today. We rarely get a 24-hour period without any this year. That sky is the last piece of the fabric I dyed using shaving cream - guess I might have to make some more!

  2. Your landscape and sky are beautifully done, Mary Ann.
I think 'band samplers' are an excellent way to document embroidery stitches and thread colors. Thanks for the link, Pintangle is a super resource for all things embroidery.

    1. I've often wanted to make a band sampler but just haven't gotten around to it. One of those things that stays on my 'to do' list!

  3. Love the movement the stitching gives to the landscape and silo.
Coasters...Yes!...Sew them as flowers on a jacket, blouse or knit top.

    1. Thank you! And you have great ideas for the 'coasters' - I thought they were far too pretty to goop up with my spilled coffee!!

  5. Your quilted snow and sky show so much movement. I love to see the progress of your projects. I'd never heard of a band sampler before. That's pretty impressive.

  6. I agree with all the comments above, Mary Anne. I especially love the quilted lines in the snow. And the sky looks like it might spit out some light snow flurries any minute. :)
