  1. Around here we have great old barns in various stages of age. But we don't have shoulders on the road, and I can't safely stop for pix. But tomorrow I'll be a passenger not the driver, and if I can get any good pix for you, I will.

    1. Thanks for thinking of me, but don't put yourself in any danger trying to get pictures! Seems strange to me that your roads don't have shoulders.

    2. I live in a region populated since the 1600s. High water table, many streams and wetlands, heavily treed, narrow country roads, some with ditches for runoff. Hence ancient farms and barns! But no option for shoulders.

    1. Thank you! I'm happy with it, and quite relieved that I managed to create a semi-decent likeness. It was harder than any of the rest I've done.

    1. Losing these wonderful old buildings is so sad, even though it's inevitable. One of the reasons I like to keep their memory alive in fabric.

  12. Wow! I didn't even realize that smaller tree branches were coming, but my - how those finished this off! Is it weird that it always feels a little sad when you finish one of these? Like a good thing has come to an end... The only thing that makes it tolerable is the thought that you'll soon start another. ;^)

  13. I had toyed with putting 'greenery' on the trees but decided it just would make the entire thing look too busy. So....twigs it was!! Yes, I agree that it's a little sad when one is done, but there IS another waiting its turn.

  14. Mary Anne Dear you have created a lasting Masterpiece in this fabric Church landscape. I love how you have captured the actual dilapidation of such a magnificent landmark. You work miracles.

    1. Yay! Dilapidation is what I'm going for! Perhaps there's something wrong with me but I see beauty in these buildings. The stories they could tell intrigue me along with the aura of pride in what they once were and the sadness they must feel to know their useful lives are over.

    1. I always feel sad when I see these wonderful old buildings being allowed to fall into decay. I feel sad, but I also see the beauty in that decay.

  17. Wow, Mary Anne! It’s beautiful! It’s such a shame to loose old buildings like this, but you have “done it proud” as they say!
Congratulations on such a great finish!

  18. Just when I think you can no longer amaze and astonish . . . You go right ahead and amaze and astonish!! This is jaw-dropping beautiful!!

  19. Oh thank you Lauren! You're good for my ego. I must admit I rather amaze myself when something I make ends up turning out even remotely resembling what I'm aiming for!
