Peeping Toms?

I heard a tap tapping noise at my sewing room window and looked up to see this....

How could you not love the sight of those faces peeking in at you!  (sorry about the picture quality - taken through the window screen).

I've been working on this crocheted baby afghan for a few weeks now - an evening, in front of the tv, project.  My friend is expecting a new grandbaby in March so this is going to wrap the new wee one....

close-up of pattern....

I may have shared this quote from St. Francis of Assisi with you before (forgive me if I re-tread one from time to time - it's hard to remember them all!)...."He who works with his hands is a laborer.  He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.  He who works with his hands, his head, and his heart, is an an artist"

  1. The baby afghan is sweet. Love the link trail leading to the cute house box. I think I might just have to fashion one of these.

    1. We don't know whether the baby is a boy or a girl so I thought these colours would do for either. Hope you do make a house box - I know you'd make it beautiful!

  2. The mourning doves are beautiful, I always enjoy watching them.
Your crochet baby blanket looks warm and snugly, just right for the cold winter months, cool spring too.
That's a gift that will be appreciated. I've been working on a crochet project too, I forgot how much fun it is.
    Good quote always.

    1. Mourning doves really are a beautiful bird aren't they. They are so full of personality too and I often look up from my stitching and see them peeking in at me. I enjoy the opportunity to crochet something too - and baby blankets are just the right size project to play with.

  3. I have to thank you for one of your recent "tips list" links! There was one about how to easily tear a roll of tape and leave a tab all in one movement, and I've already used it twice :)

  4. Adorable photo! A window sill bird feeder in their future?

    1. Our bird feeder is about three feet away hanging off the balcony and there's also seed on top of the table for them. I'd hate to put a feeder on the sill because they might fly into the window. As it is they sometimes get spooked and tend to hit the window anyway.

    1. I accidentally threw out the yarn label and now I can't remember what yarn I used unfortunately. It was a a lovely soft variegated yarn anyway and was nice to work with. And yes, I do love my little birdie visitors!

  7. Hi MA, please check your email. I've sent you 2 messages and they keep coming back to me with failure notices. I can't figure out why. Everything else I've sent has gone through just fine. Pam

    1. Still snow for you? That's no fun!!! Bad enough we're stuck with it here. Another storm heading our way over the weekend but fingers are firmly crossed that it will veer south away from us. I've used the baby blankie pattern before and really like it - easy to do (only a two row repeat).

  10. I believe those love birds all over the world. I think I told you of the pair beside my balcony. Love hearing them early in morning. The baby gift is beautiful. What's the name of the stitch? It doesn't look like the shell.

    1. As far as I know there's no name for the stitch Joy - if you want the pattern let me know and I'll email it to you. It's very simple - just a two row repeat - and then I add a border that evolves as I go along.

    1. I think there was a bit of melted snow along the windowsill and they were getting a drink which explains the tapping noises - but all the same they are so cute!

    1. Hmmm - maybe they were wanting to get warm and the colours in the blanket would certainly match their feathers.

    1. Hopefully they will like the blanket - they don't know if its a boy or a girl so the colour should be okay for either one.
