I heard a tap tapping noise at my sewing room window and looked up to see this....
How could you not love the sight of those faces peeking in at you! (sorry about the picture quality - taken through the window screen).
I've been working on this crocheted baby afghan for a few weeks now - an evening, in front of the tv, project. My friend is expecting a new grandbaby in March so this is going to wrap the new wee one....
close-up of pattern....
I may have shared this quote from St. Francis of Assisi with you before (forgive me if I re-tread one from time to time - it's hard to remember them all!)...."He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands, his head, and his heart, is an an artist"
The baby afghan is sweet. Love the link trail leading to the cute house box. I think I might just have to fashion one of these.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know whether the baby is a boy or a girl so I thought these colours would do for either. Hope you do make a house box - I know you'd make it beautiful!
DeleteThe mourning doves are beautiful, I always enjoy watching them.
ReplyDeleteYour crochet baby blanket looks warm and snugly, just right for the cold winter months, cool spring too.
That's a gift that will be appreciated. I've been working on a crochet project too, I forgot how much fun it is.
Good quote always.
Mourning doves really are a beautiful bird aren't they. They are so full of personality too and I often look up from my stitching and see them peeking in at me. I enjoy the opportunity to crochet something too - and baby blankets are just the right size project to play with.
DeleteI have to thank you for one of your recent "tips list" links! There was one about how to easily tear a roll of tape and leave a tab all in one movement, and I've already used it twice :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Good to know that I found something useful to share!
DeleteAdorable photo! A window sill bird feeder in their future?
ReplyDeleteOur bird feeder is about three feet away hanging off the balcony and there's also seed on top of the table for them. I'd hate to put a feeder on the sill because they might fly into the window. As it is they sometimes get spooked and tend to hit the window anyway.
DeleteOh love doves! Always, having, pairs, I had a loner for a few weeks...i was saddened, spoke to it. It's back to pairs. My hope, it's mate, arrived. 😏 They are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree that they're beautiful too....and not afraid of us. They have the sweetest faces, especially when they're peeking in the window at me!
DeleteHow lovely to have the birds keeping you company while you sew! I love your beautiful baby afghan. The yarns you have used are lovely and the pattern is really pretty! Hope you're keeping warm! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI accidentally threw out the yarn label and now I can't remember what yarn I used unfortunately. It was a a lovely soft variegated yarn anyway and was nice to work with. And yes, I do love my little birdie visitors!
DeleteHi MA, please check your email. I've sent you 2 messages and they keep coming back to me with failure notices. I can't figure out why. Everything else I've sent has gone through just fine. Pam
ReplyDeletewill email you in a minute....
DeleteI always enjoy watching the birds in the garden. Adorable baby afghan. Great links. I have the book about the houses. It's Yoko Saito's houses, houses, houses! Interesting book.
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy for the info about the houses book!
DeleteThis little baby blankie looks lovely and cuddly warm. I adore so many of the amazing Works of HeArt these links share. This quote deserves to be repeated many times Dear. Sunshine and Snow here.
ReplyDeleteStill snow for you? That's no fun!!! Bad enough we're stuck with it here. Another storm heading our way over the weekend but fingers are firmly crossed that it will veer south away from us. I've used the baby blankie pattern before and really like it - easy to do (only a two row repeat).
DeleteI believe those love birds all over the world. I think I told you of the pair beside my balcony. Love hearing them early in morning. The baby gift is beautiful. What's the name of the stitch? It doesn't look like the shell.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know there's no name for the stitch Joy - if you want the pattern let me know and I'll email it to you. It's very simple - just a two row repeat - and then I add a border that evolves as I go along.
Deleteha...Tom and Rosie saying Hi! Love the afgan, can imagine how soft it feels.
ReplyDeleteI think there was a bit of melted snow along the windowsill and they were getting a drink which explains the tapping noises - but all the same they are so cute!
DeleteHi Maryanne lol how funny the two little birdies watching you,i love your baby afghan love the colours, well done my friend xx
ReplyDeleteI often feeling somebody staring at me and look up to see a little face peeking in at me. First time I've seen two at the same time though.
DeleteCute birds. I think they may be after the lovely, warm baby rug. I've not seen that stitch before. Both blanket and stitch look great. The quote could be about you.
ReplyDeleteHmmm - maybe they were wanting to get warm and the colours in the blanket would certainly match their feathers.
DeleteWhat a sweet, squish baby blanket that will be. And the morning doves - how fun to find them right there at the window!
ReplyDeleteHopefully they will like the blanket - they don't know if its a boy or a girl so the colour should be okay for either one.
