Today's picture is why I'm fluffing about. This is a fur coat in the throes of being deconstructed and being made over into a teddy bear. I love making bears, but I do not like the fact that all the 'fluff' from the fur gets into absolutely everything and hangs around for weeks lurking in unexpected places. I've learned the hard way that, once you have the pieces cut out, to take them outside and give them a good shake. Just make sure you're not standing downwind!!
I hear you. I made hats out of fur coats one year and had that problem. The hats were very warm though but a bit big and strange looking. Lol. Can't wait to see the bears.
ReplyDeleteHi MM.
ReplyDeleteI hear you!!!! I was commisioned to make two bears out of fur coats ONCE!!!! I had to wear a mask and long sleeves and long pants! I was careful about cutting the fur but the undercoat was impossible and seemed to go everywhere even after shaking it outside besides that and all my protection, I itched for days. I also had a problem with the skins in the coat as it was old and dried out, had to apply an iron on lining! NOT a fun experience. I hope you have better luck.... I will look forward to seeing your finished bear... It will be worth the effort as they sure are lovely in spite of the hazards..
