Hmmmm

This week I was given this quilt flimsy and I will be taking it to the local quilt guild meeting in September to see if anyone wants to complete it.  Someone has spent a lot of hours doing all those embroidered flowers so it would be a shame not to complete the project.  It's not something I want to tackle so I'll be happy to pass it along.

Sorry about the picture quality.  My quilt holder upper (aka The RC) couldn't hold it all.  I think it's at least a double bed size, possibly queen.

This is a closer photo of one of the embroidered medallions.

- THIS is a rather nice little tote bag that could serve a myriad of uses.  And THIS is an interesting one too.

- I must admit I was gobsmacked when I saw the prices on THESE!!  Obviously I work really cheap!

- THIS is an interesting technique using embroidery to weave.  And you can read more about the technique HERE.

- The weavers among you might find THIS of interest.

Today's quote is from Margaret Atwood..."In the end, we'll all become stories"

    1. I really hope someone will want to finish it, but that someone certainly won't be me!

  2. I'd be inclined to cut up the quilt top for pillows with the medallions centered. But that's me.
The prices on those quilted landscapes are only the asking price! We don't know if they're the getting price.

    1. There are a LOT of medallions in this project so you'd be able to make enough pillows to share with the whole neighbourhood.
Asking/getting price did make me wonder too, but I wouldn't have enough nerve to even begin to list that sort of price on my work even knowing I'd never get it.

    1. Oh no - this isn't my work!!! The quilt top was passed along to one of my friends, who in turn passed it to me. I don't know who did all the embroidery.

  4. Someone spent a great deal of time embroidering all those motifs. I do hope you find someone who is willing to finish it.

    God bless.

    1. I hope so too! It would be a shame to see all that beautiful embroidery go to waste.

  6. I wouldn't want to finish it into a blanket, either. I'm in the camp that feels if no one wants to finish it as intended, turn it into something else. I can imagine a few fun projects with all those cute cross stitches wreaths of roses. Pillows, bags, a garment bag, inset on a jacket... Now, would I actually do those things? Probably not. But I hope people are inspired by it in September to do something clever with it. Or even finish it into a blanket, I suppose.

    1. I'm hopeful for a quilt because it's already joined together into a flimsy. There are lots of motifs - too many to cut up and use in other projects (at least that's my thought anyway).

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
