Here's #4 in the 'Him and Me' series - complete!!
Him and Me IV - Swingin'
measures approx. 19x21"
FOR SALE
There's approximately 21 hours of hand embroidery in the floral section alone (who knew?!).
- I like THIS, only I'd make it longer.
- Sometimes it's the simple things (like THIS)
- THIS takes you to part one of a series on creating your own hussif.
- THIS is a rather brilliant idea (and very practical!)
Today's quote is from Desmond Tutu..."Be still, be quiet, and then you will begin to see with the eyes of the heart"

Your latest work is so happy! Well done, you, and I hope it goes off to a good home. Question: what's a thread catcher and how does it work?
ReplyDeleteThank you Liz! No one has come out of the woodwork wanting to buy it, but maybe one day. As for this type of thread catcher - it's useful when you're sewing and can simply lay 'garbage' thread bits onto it (rather than doing what I do and aim them in the general area of the garbage and then wonder why they end up on the floor instead). There are also thread catchers in varying forms of baskets/bowls but again, too high tech for me.
Deletethis one is sweet, too!!! beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be making one more in the series - thank you!
DeleteYou are amazing. I love your talent.
ReplyDeleteawwww, thank you Linda!
DeleteI'm loving your Him and Me' landscapes, Mary Anne. This one is resplendent in lovely colour and texture. I 'embiggened' it, as you would say, and looked at the photo for yonks. The texture of the gnarly branches of the trees is wonderful; there's so much for the eyes to see. The hills, the sky, the sweet old couple, the rope of the swing, the stone path, the rock wall.......all are amazing and I imagine took ages to stitch. BUT....my very favourite part of this landscape is the garden. It's beautiful dancing in gorgeous embroidery in thread and ribbon. The variation in the blues/mauves of those french knot flowers is joyous. Each and every element of this work of art......is sublime, and testament to your extraordinary talent!
ReplyDeleteawwww - thank you Kim! That's high praise indeed!!
DeleteI am always amazed at how well you can convey an emotion in your work. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie - this one was lots of fun to work on because I do love embroidery.
DeleteOh wow, this is such a wonderful series and this is the best one so far. I hope you can find a place to exhibit them all together.
ReplyDeleteDoes hanging them in my sewing room count as exhibiting?
DeleteOh wow, that is just amazing!!! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy! It was such fun to work on and I'm almost sorry it's done.
DeleteOMGoodness, this is just precious! The flowers and colours are stunning, what a treasure!
ReplyDeleteawww, thank you Astrid! I had so much fun working on this one.
DeleteAnd just like that, you've finished another marvelous landscape! I want to use all the words... precious, stunning, amazing, treasure... It's just wonderful, Mary Anne. I think you deserve a showroom, or at least a display space. Our local library has a display case that gets changed out each month or so. My favorite displays are ones where artisans have displayed some of their work. There need to be spaces like this in other places. The world would be a better place if we could all be regularly inspired by the creators in our midst.
ReplyDeleteawwww, thank you Becki! My buttons are a poppin' after reading your comment. I agree that there should be more places to showcase the creativity in our communities. You have a very forward-thinking library (ours would be horrified at the very thought).
