Another section

I've now added another section (or at least mostly) to the landscape as you can see from this closeup.  There's a multitude of varying skinny bits of fabric twisted together to create the tree limbs.  The leaves are leftovers from another landscape - originally they were a dark yellow but some paint changed that to something a little more summer-like.

- If you hate wasps (don't we all?), perhaps you'd like to make one of THESE to see if it might deter them.  OR perhaps you'd prefer to make THIS version.

- There are some cute ideas to use fabric scraps HERE.

- If you like hats, perhaps THIS one might catch your eye.

- If you'd like to treat yourself (or someone else) to a new needlebook, perhaps you'd like to make this - Part One and Part Two.

Today's quote is from Leonard Cohen... "There is a crack, a crack in everything.  That's how the light gets in"

    1. I enjoy what I'm doing so it's not really work (at least not in my mind anyway).

  3. That closeup is lovely. The twists of fabric are such good texture, great idea.

    1. It wasn't my original idea - saw it somewhere and thought it would be fun to try.

  4. The faux wasp nest would probably be inhabited by wrens in no time around here.

    1. Wrens are good! I heard one the other day in the tree outside my sewing room window but I couldn't spot it. Would be nice if they decided to build a nest!

  5. The twisted fabric really looks like bark. I love the link on what to do with scrap fabric and have bookmarked it.

    God bless.

    1. I like the effect of the twisted fabric although it's a little tricky to execute.

  6. LOL at the blogger's "scrap fabric wall art" (and, to be pedantic, the headline "old fabric scraps" -- what about new ones?).....But YOU turn scraps into beautiful pictures!

    1. Scraps are scraps - whether they be old or new, aren't they. It seems all I have is scraps and it does surprise me what bits and pieces can be turned into.

  7. Oh my gosh, did you cut all of those little leaves? Amazing!

    1. Yes, I painted all those leaves - and cut them out - and added the veining in them too. Anal, much?!!

  8. Catching up, I am now on inspo overload. I only have a minute to recover from your beautiful flowers in your last post, and now I see all those leaves you hand stitched - with pretty embroidery stitches. AND you painted them! So much gorgeous texture and interest. Can't wait to see the finished picture, Mary Anne.

    1. Some would say I'm somewhat anal - and others would say that I'm rather insane. Oh well, I'm happy in my own little world!
