double hmmmmm ---

I normally use Google for my browser but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth - don't know if it's my computer or if it's the Grande Google In The Sky issue, but I have now had to resort to using Microsoft Edge - not my idea of fun, but at least, for now, it's working.  Methinks this might be an ongoing saga of woe!!

Over the past few days I've managed to (hopefully) finish the embroidery on the floral section of this landscape.  I used the printed fabric as the 'pattern' and stitched it with various flosses, pearl cottons, and silk ribbons.  Sadly a photo doesn't do it justice because there's tons of texture that I know you won't likely be able to see (clicking to embiggen might help).

I tried taking a photo on a bit of an angle so perhaps this one shows the stitching more?

- I really like what THIS artist creates!  Her use of colour is amazing.

- It's rare in these times to read a feel-good news item and so I thought I'd share THIS one.  While you are at the site, you might like to explore further and perhaps sign up for their good news newsletter (it's free).

- HERE is another amazing artist!

- I've been searching for ideas for a new knit or crochet project and thought I'd share these resources in case you're interested...for free knit patterns go HERE  and for crochet go HERE.

  1. The embellishment makes the flowers pop! Google is ubiquitous so I don't know what your computer's growsing about.

    1. I don't know why the computer is growsing either! Wish it would straighten up and fly right.

    1. The stitching on the flowers took well over 20 hours to do - good thing I like to embroider!

  3. Beautiful embellishment, Mary Anne! It makes the flowers pop. Amazing artists, thank you for the links! Maybe you can do some granny squares from the leftover yarn?

    1. Thanks Astrid! Granny squares might be an idea but not sure that I have enough yarn to make anything out of them. Will have to ponder some more!

  4. That flower section is lovely. There's such a pleasure in adding to a design like that, taking it further.

  5. You did awesome on the flower portion of your work. I haven't tried Google in a bit, must check it out.
I did not realize the Mary Maxim had free patterns. I will be searching there.

    God bless.

  6. Again I clicked on the photos. So you are using the printed fabric as a pattern to embroider on and add demension. I am finally understanding how it's all coming together.....LOL Do you put it in an embroidery loop?

    1. Yes - that's exactly what I'm doing! And no, I don't use a hoop. There's actually several layers of fabric (plus batting) that hold it sturdy enough to stitch on.

    1. Well, I don't know about inspiring - but they were fun to work on anyway.

  8. I hope you got your Google fixed. I really dislike Edge myself.

    1. I think, touch wood, that the problem I was having originated from Google doing a couple of updates in rapid succession. I suspect there was a glitch with the first one. And I agree, Edge isn't my favourite, but I have it on my computer to use as a backup.

  9. Wow! The texture you've added to the flower-print fabric is amazing. I've been looking for fabric to do something like this with, and I can't seem to find it. Seeing your beautiful and clever work, I'm now realizing I just don't have the imagination you have. And that you do all that embroidery without a hoop - I'm even further impressed. Your work IS inspiring, Mary Anne!

    1. This particular floral print was part of a panel I acquired several years ago and I've used bits of it here and there (once I mustered enough courage to cut into it!). Not using a hoop isn't that much of a stretch because there's three layers of fabric plus a layer of quilt batting in that area so there's lots of support.
