Behold - a finished landscape!!!
"What Goes Around Comes Around"
FOR SALE!
This one measures approx. 30x25"
I don't know how well you can see in the photo but the little fox and the leaves in the bottom corner are dimensional. Each of the circles in the sky and on the ground are embroidered by hand and most have a button added to the center.
For those that missed it, my inspiration (beyond using some rust-dyed fabrics from my stash) came from a poem I found written on a piece of the fabric. Here it is...
"If there be righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. When there is order in each nation, there will be peace in the world".
For some reason that poem reminded me of a circle and so - there are circles!
T'is chilly here at Chez Magpie, at least if you step outdoors. I've even resorted to hauling my winter coat back out and have been grateful for it. According to the weather reporter it's shaping up to be the coldest May since 1967. The RC is getting a tad fed up with having to haul his plants in and out (and the past few days it's been mostly in).
- Perhaps you might like to give THIS technique a try.
- And THIS would be fun to make and make a handy reference later on.
- I don't think I'd have the patience to attempt making THESE but they certainly are cute!
- THIS is a rather interesting technique.
Today the quote is from Voltaire...."Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices"
moving ... this one is a soul-touching beauty.
ReplyDeleteawww - thank you!
DeleteThat is some work!
ReplyDeleteChilly here too....I have thoughts of going back to leggings under my jeans.....
At least the sun is trying to shine this morning but it's still cool. Supposed to be getting even cooler by the weekend.
DeleteLovely finish on this one--the rust fabrics lend such an Autumnal feel, I think-- nice work:
ReplyDeleteI just managed to do my 15 min per day clean-out and boxing of a lot of my paper crafting stuff. It's getting overwhelming...time
to scale it back.. I have enough journals to last the rest of my lifetime I think...--I do like making them though...;)))
Resting for a while now...
Hugs, Julierose
Yes, I agree - this one does look like fall. Good idea to do a 15-minute clean out!
DeleteThe circle embroidery is such a nice touch. Yes, chilly here as well. The furnace came on this morning, but as the day warms up the temp stabilizes and the furnace doesn't fire again. As a result when I go downstairs to sew after dinner the studio is really chilly.
ReplyDeleteWe had turned our heat off a couple weeks ago but it's back on again now. Definitely not the May temps we're used to!
DeleteLove this and circles are a perfect match up to the poem.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie. I thought circles seemed to 'fit' the poem so I went with it.
DeleteThis one is a real departure from your previous works. It's very successful and meaningful. Go you!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's different isn't it. I wanted to use up some of the rust dyes I had in my stash so it worked well overall.
DeleteIt's beautiful! I can't believe it's so cold there but we are also chilly here, in the 60's. Very unusual for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt's warmed up a tad today but supposed to drop again on Wednesday. Hard to know how to dress.
DeleteSherryofcreateology: MA this is the most unique landscape you have created yet. I adore your symbolism with the circles. The poem is the perfect segue to the quilt. Your Fox in the corner is adorable. Interesting links as always. Thank You. Brrr…we are in the high 90sF and will be 102F this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, it definitely is unique! I was just happy to find a use for the rusty fabrics.
DeleteI absolutely love this. ❤️ Great job and the poem matches so well.
ReplyDeleteThe poem was my inspiration so I had to include it. It was a pleasant surprise when I unearthed it in my stash.
DeleteOh my goodness MA: This is a beautiful quilt, love the Fox and leaves.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the interesting links.
Catherine
Thank you Catherine! I really had fun working on this one and was actually a bit sorry when I finished it.
DeleteSo many things in life come full circle.
ReplyDeleteLove this piece
Thank you Joy...it was certainly a fun one to create.

ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you!!! I'm so glad you like it too.

ReplyDeleteThank you Joy - I'm glad you like it! It was really fun creating it.
DeleteI didn't get back here to see the finish! This is beautiful landscape, Mary Anne, and the words are moving. The connection to circles is terrific. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Becki. Those words certainly struck a chord with me so it was pretty easy to come up with the plan for this one.
