Another update

I made a little progress on the landscape over the weekend....

And here are a few more results from the
Grande Declutter...

3 plastic storage boxes, 2 pairs of pinking shears (I still have two!); a pen that doesn't write, a word search
puzzle book & a fridge magnet

A pile of manuals and such for the computer I had years ago; a pile of paper; 3 journal books, a single
knitting needle, and some dull rotary cutter blades (I treated my cutter to a new blade)

a bunch of bookmarks, a wooden box, some sort of breathing apparatus, a thingie used to
fill my water pillow; a partially carved Santa, a single shoelace; and a thingie of
undetermined origin

2 more calendars, old crazy quilt magazines, and a bunch of
crafting books

sewing patterns, a roll of drywall tape (???), a roll of silver tape evidently used for
taping furnace pipes (ummm....????); tracing paper, a pair of tweezers

Today's quote is from Joshua Becker..."Owning less is better than organizing more"

  1. Doesn't it feel good to purge the recesses of your home? Might sound silly, but I just keep thinking "Ah, that much less to keep track of" :-) Just realized I wasn't a follower of yours, now resolved!

    1. Decluttering is always good! Really can't understand how we managed to accumulate so much more 'stuff' since we moved here 10 years ago. Thanks for following my mumblings!

  2. That quote will get a lot of applause from those of us a bit tired from lugging stuff about. And out.

I'm really liking how your sky is working in the current piece. You have a great touch with skies.

    1. Can't blame the sky on my expertise - it's a complete fluke of the shaving cream/paint process. It's fun to see the results, albeit it's a messy procedure to create.

  3. Your landscape looks great. Your daily motto is very true. I've finished culling and sorting my fabric and have it down to two of the large plastic storage bins. Considering what I had before that's pretty good.

    1. Makes you feel good when you've downsized something doesn't it. Plus it has the added bonus of sparking some creative ideas too.

  4. I just came across a box full of stamps that I bet haven't seen the light of day in 20 years. My oldest son dabbled in stamp collecting, I think. Or maybe I just tried to interest him in it. Anyway, I tried to imagine some clever thing I could perhaps cover with them. And here I see a book covered in stamps that you're getting rid of! What should that tell me? I love embiggening your pictures and taking in the details of what you're getting rid of. You have some interesting stuff!

    1. Interesting stuff - hmmm, more like junque! Some things I've held onto for far too many years and never used so it's time for the real estate to get cleared so I can perhaps add a few things that I WILL use.

  5. Your landscape is coming along beautifully. Interesting article re pricing our makes for a profit. I still don't believe we are ever compensated reasonably for what the product we have made is really worth. Oh those dogs!! They are incredible; what a clever artist.

    1. I get such conflicting responses to my landscapes - when told my price some people are absolutely horrified, but on the other hand other people are telling me I should be asking at least four times as much. It would be nice to actually GET the higher amount (well, actually it's pretty thrilling to get the lower amount!) but it's simply not realistic in this area.

  6. Great progress on your landscape Mary Ann. I like what you've done with the winter tree, perfect.
And more dejunking, wonderful, that will put a spring in your step.

    1. Thanks Janie. The tree has changed since this photo was taken - hopefully will be able to show that tomorrow.

  7. I love your curved tree and the tractor is really coming to life. Such fun finds for your declutter stash. Oh if only I followed this quote in real life! Hope you are not out in your snowfalls.

    1. Thanks Sherry - each step adds a little more detail to both the tree and the tractor. Wish I could follow that quote too!

    1. It's coming together slowly. I have the tractor pretty much done now and that's the part that really scares me.

  9. I've decided not to make any decisions about craft/art supplies until I've gone through everything in the house, because I'm making so much space I may feel able and inspired to do more craft-ing and art-ing. But just for perspective, I thought I had a LOT of craft/art supplies until you and Boud started posting your pictures! ;)

    1. Oh, but what you've seen of my stash is a mere dribble in the bucket (note, I didn't even say a drop!).

  10. This landscape is looking fabulous Mary Anne and your home must be feeling a lot less cluttered!! Christine xx

    1. As for the house looking less cluttered - I had to admit it, but it still looks the same on the surface. It will take a lot more getting rid of stuff to make a noticeable difference I think.
