Week two of the REAL Studio Tour!

This is the second week of the fun studio tour that Vicki Welsh is hosting.  Last week we posted our favourite tool or tools that we use in our studios that was NOT used for its original purpose.  This week she would like us to post about our favourite storage solutions.  For me, that was an easy one!

First up...
I have a LOT of embroidery thread so
these are the greatest solution.
I have different colour families in
these.
This is my green (for Christmas!)...

Second...
I have a LOT of beads!
The best storage solution I've been
able to find are these
watchmaker's cases
(available here in Canada from Lee Valley).
Again, I have one for each colour family.

  1. Your bead stash, just one part of it, leaves my little collection in the dust! and your threads, wow. Mine all fit into a couple of plastic bags inside a plastic tote bin. Heh. I can see I have to get busy shopping...

I do have a lot of access to free threads donated to our stitching guild, though, to be honest, and to fabrics there too. My goldwork has all been done with donated thread!

but now I need some little bead containers to replace the tiny little bags they're currently in. See what you started?

  3. Brilliant idea for storing your beads - they are normally a headache to store securely .

  4. Wow! You are so very organized. I don't do a lot of embroidery, so I am truly impressed by your collection of green thread.

  5. Whoa! And I thought I had a grand stash of floss and beads. I'm impressed! I confess, though, that I tried the card system for floss...and failed at it. It's having to wind the stuff onto the cards that gets me down every time! I now keep mine in recycled plastic sheets of pockets that used to be used for storing 3 1/2" floppy discs. (Remember those?)

  6. I confess I'm impressed by your stashes -- and your patience to wind floss on those darned cards. I keep mine in plastic pockets that used to be used for storing 3 1/2" floppy discs (remember those?)!

  11. You are well organized! I bought that card system for my mom for her floss, but don't think she ever used it. Bead are a hard one to corral. And that is just one of your colors!

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
