A further glimpse

The eagle-eyed among you might notice the change I made to the 'grass' area of the latest landscape (scroll back to my previous post if you'd like).  When I stood back and looked at it, I didn't like the colour I used so now it's changed and I did a patchwork look.  Hopefully it's better!

- I plan on making one of THESE before winter really sets in.

- HERE are some fun desserts you might like to try for fall.

- THIS is so pretty!  I just finished knitting a sock in this yarn in the same colourway (picture will follow once I complete the other sock).

- Have a peek at the creations of THIS artist!

A landscape update

Over the weekend I worked on the latest landscape and have it to this point now (ready for quilting)....

Updated to add: since this photo was taken, the
grass has been removed and replaced

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT....I've been getting increasingly dire warnings that my 'cloud storage is full' and I, being of a suspicious nature, checked into it.  It appears that it's a scam so thought I should let you know in case it happens to you.

- I'm not quite sure about the usefulness of THIS, but sending it along in case you want to give it a try.

- THIS falls under the awww-worthy category!  And so does THIS.

- I know some of you are going to groan over me starting to share ideas for 'that' day in December, but getting an early start is a good thing.  Go HERE for one idea.

- THIS is something that would be fun for fall in all sorts of different ways.

Something for a baby

A friend is expecting a new grandbaby so of course I had to make a little blanket to welcome the wee one...

The pattern is THIS one and I used Baby Marble yarn by James C. Brett.

- THIS is a cute little project.

- And so are THESE.

- I know I've posted the instructions for THIS before but perhaps you missed it.  A couple tips I have found...the shelf liner doesn't want to go through the sewing machine because it sticks, so I stitch through a piece of paper and remove it afterwards.  I also add an 'X' through the middle which helps to hold it together.  Ours gets LOTS of use.

Starting another

Of course you know that I'm starting anther landscape and have already spent hours stitching this part of it...a form of sashiko stitching.  Alas not ready for a photo quite yet so you're going to have to put up with yet more mumblings.  Operating on very little sleep the past couple of nights due to the RC having come down with some sort of plague.  Hopefully he keeps it to himself!

- If you happen to like cats, perhaps these two links that take you to a free PDF pattern will intrigue you (and if you aren't a cat person, have a peek anyway because it's awwww-worthy).  Go HERE and HERE.

- THIS is a really pretty project.

- And so is THIS.

- THIS would be a great use for some leftover denim jeans.

Fun and games?

As soon as I saw this photo by Dale Stewart (and shared with his always kind permission) I knew I wanted to play with it...

I had to wait until the dollar store had plastic skeletons available and once I got some, I turned Dale's photo into this...

"I Told You We Were Lost"
measures approx. 24x20"

FOR SALE!

Can you see the wee fox?  And here's a closeup of the bottom corner...

I had the orange floral beads in my stash for ages and finally found a use for some of them.

- If you crochet, have a look at the free patterns found HERE and if you knit, go HERE.

- I know you all were just waiting for me to share THIS!  Go ahead, I know you want to try them.

- I think I'm going to have to try out THIS process on my cutting mat.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers!

- THIS is a dose of nostalgia.

- And HERE is something that would be cheap to make - and would serve all sorts of purposes (including gift giving!).

- Have a look at the wonderful weavings by THIS artist!

- Quilters might find THIS a good resource.

oops - a squirrel....

I rather like THIS for fall decor - not expensive if you forego the primer step.  As long as you're careful with it and seal the end result I don't think it would need it.

UPDATED TO ADD:  I made one!  The RC just emptied a can of pumpkin pie fill so I absconded with it and made the project.  Will have to check the $ store for some appropriate flowers/leaves to add.

- THIS would make  a lovely gift for someone.

- I'm rather intrigued by THIS.

- HERE is something fun to make for fall.

- THIS is a little bit different take on a pincushion.

A little glimpse

Today I can show you a glimpse of what's been happening with the latest landscape....

- THIS would be fun to make for your fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween decor.  And, if you use milk jugs, perhaps THIS might be a fun use for them.

- And THIS is a great idea too!

- THIS takes you to a pdf for a really sweet bird quilt.

- I like THIS for fall too.  And THIS as well.

- Be sure to have a look at the gallery of THIS incredible artist!

Nothing to see here

I've been working on the landscape but all I've done is spend hours quilting it and really there's nothing new for you to see.  So....you know what that means, don't you....

- THIS is a cute little guy that makes good use of a thread spool.

- I can see lots of possible uses for THIS.

- Have a peek at the amazing creations of THIS artist!

- HERE is something you might like to try.  And HERE is something else.

- Being that it's fall, perhaps your thoughts turn to making popcorn, so THIS might add a great flavour.

More bubble, bubble and a beginning

On Monday the RC and I made Onion Garlic Relish and if you want the recipe, go HERE.

And, I have started another landscape and here is the beginning stage (original photo is by Dale Stewart and, as always, with his kind permission)...

-  Perhaps you might like to make some of THESE to display on Remembrance Day.

- THIS little guy made me smile.  As did THIS little fellow (sorry it's a paid item, but I like it!).  And THIS one is positively awww-worthy!

- I think there are multiple uses for THIS

Today's quote (slightly off-colour!)...

Bubble, bubble.....

Over the weekend the RC and I made two batches of zucchini relish.  The smaller jars and several of the larger ones are for Christmas gifting.  Togetherness in all things at Chez Magpie - the RC does the chopping and I do the actual processing.  If you want the recipe, it's HERE.

- THIS looks like something cozy you could make for fall.

- I wish I had known THIS when we still had a garden!

- Hmmmm - sometimes something just defies logic, but on the other hand, perhaps it's a good idea?  Go HERE.

- If you know someone who uses a walker, perhaps they'd appreciate THIS.

Home again, jiggidy jig

We are home but still getting back into the groove of things.  While away #1 son helped me purchase a new Samsung Galaxy A17 phone and now there's a huge learning curve once again.  I was ever-so-proud of myself that I managed to figure out how to connect with our home Wi-Fi, but then returned to earth with a thump when I attempted to move some photos from the phone to the computer.  Still haven't figured that one out and finally gave it up for a bad job and I will try again another day.

While we were visiting our family we had many really great meals (including a wonderful risotto/steak dish that our chef son made for us).  We saw the live theatre production of 'The Hobbit' which was loved by all of us, and went to a fun outdoor Art In The Park, along with their local farmer's market.  We also had an epic crokinole tournament one afternoon.  It's been years since the RC and I have played so it was fun taking on our grandson.  (if you aren't familiar with crokinole, you can read more HERE).

I haven't had time to search out any links for you this time but will return to the regular mumblings on Friday, along with a reveal of the latest landscape.

Permission to play

Ok folks, the RC and I are heading out tomorrow for a road trip to visit  our #1 son and his family so I will be MIA for about a week.  Feel free to party amongst yourselves!  I won't have access to a computer or internet while I'm gone.

- At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I thought I'd share THIS great way to use some of that broken costume jewelry we have stuck in a drawer somewhere.  Another of her great projects is THIS one (and now I want one of those trees!!).   And I know I sent you to THIS last year, but it bears repeating.

- Have a peek at THESE!

- Some things just make me laugh and THIS is one of them (I know it's a paid pattern, but I thought you'd get a kick out of it too).

- THIS takes you to part one of a six-part series focusing on creating a fabric collage.  Wish my stash would yield the 'fodder' to attempt this!  While you're there, be sure to check out her galleries of work!
