Spent over five hours day before yesterday just ironing ties. Had to keep reminding myself that all this is for the greater good and it's not hurting me (tell that to my back!).Magpie's Mumblingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09852241848575954128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24429902.post-26326338192265667912020-04-08T04:34:39.707-04:002020-04-08T04:34:39.707-04:00Glad to hear you got into making masks. My elastic stash is practically non-existent so I have had to resort to fabric ties. Seeing a Gila Monster - that's amazing! I am using ribbon for my ties. I understand elastic can be cut lengthwise to make it 1/8” but I have not tried that. Good quote especially for those who are struggling with our new normal. I rather like staying home. Hubby however must get out of the house so we went for a nice desert dirt drive yesterday and saw a Gila Monster up close and personal. I stayed in the vehicle! I know different members of the quilt guild are making some with elastic and some with ties so there will be options for the recipients. Those with ties are probably best for donation as they receive different treatment in sterilizing than personal masks will likely require (or will get). And, as Boud states above, some people have different sensibilities about things like elastic behind the ears. Bless you for making masks for donations! I dread the day when I might be forced to wear a mask - I'm highly claustrophobic so covering my face in any way is terrifying. I have to get used to mine, not easy to have your breath getting hot on your face. But you have to have a seal. So I'll use it when I have to.Boudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00641013916263271948noreply@blogger.com
