Progress....of a sort

I have accomplished a teeny bit more on my barn project (in between sneezing and nose blowing as I deal with a grandson-shared cold).  Never let it be said that I'm afraid to show my work in ANY state of disrepair (as this photo will attest!)...

My free motion quilting abilities are more than abysmal so when I was pondering what to do about the sky area I decided the best form of attack (and...hopefully....with the least amount of reverse stitching involved!) was to print off some cloud-like shapes on my computer, trace them onto tissue paper and then stitch through the tissue.  Well, it worked....and then again....it didn't.  I remembered to crumple the tissue paper well before I pinned it in place which does make the removal a bit easier (and the tissue is less apt to tear when you're stitching if it's softened by the crumpling).  However, removing the tissue entirely is a bit tricky and will involve the judicious application of a pair of tweezers over the entire thing.  Hmmm.  Reverse stitching vs. tweezering....definitely a thing to ponder further.
But, on the good side....do you see the door?

Today your quote is another from an anonymous source..."Always end the day with a positive thought.  No matter how hard things were, tomorrow's a fresh opportunity to make it better"

  1. I love your clouds and think they are brilliant. A little bit of tweezing beats frogging any day. This barn, complete with door, is looking very period correct. Interesting links. I cannot imagine making fabric cling seals. Wonderful quote and well remembered for my Weight Watcher lifestyle. No matter how bad I have been in a day...eating candy...I can always begin anew and get right back on track. JOYful January Dear...<3

  2. I can not believe how proficient at this you have become in this short of time. Didn't you just start this last year? Beautiful job and the adding of the door really added to the barn angle or depth. I can't decide which it is, Maybe both? I went back a little ways and you have been really busy with some beautiful projects.

  8. Ooh! I've had to work with the tweezers and tissue paper on a much smaller scale. Not so fun! I do hope you are beating that cold. I picked one up (thankfully a mild one) with all the trips to clinics I've been taking a relative to. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Those BOMs are almost too much for me to resist! There are a couple I almost cannot say no to. (So many crafts, so little time!)

Your barn progress is amazing. I love seeing your updates!
