Latest stitching efforts - and tears dripping off my chin...

(Bet that title caught your attention didn't it!!)

First - here's the latest stitching I've done on
wrapping cloth # 2...

The leaves & berries above were already on the fabric,
and I have added the flower vine to the left.

Below are web stitches, highlighting the
circles that were already printed on the fabric.

AND, and by no means does this deserve to come
last in this post, an explanation of my tears.

I am not a lover of the trappings of Christmas - the busyness, the frantic rush to buy, buy, buy - all leave me feeling cold.  I truly enjoy creating gifts for my friends though and the time and love I put into the things I make help me get into the Christmas spirit of giving.  We all need, however, to remember the reason we celebrate, and so often it gets lost in all the commercialism of it all.

I love listening to Christmas music and have it streaming on my internet/computer all the time I'm in my studio.  I have just discovered what I think is a new song and it quite literally brings me to tears every single time I hear it.  It's called 'A Baby Changes Everything' and is performed by Faith Hill.  I'm going to give you the you-tube link HERE.  Please listen/watch and enjoy.  Consider it my Christmas present to you.

  1. Your flower vine addition to the leaves and berries piece....beautiful and would also be perfect on a small Wee Care gown. Brilliant to use the circles on the fabric to work web stitches.
I agree with you about Christmas...I am off to find tissues and then listen to the song.

  2. I like Christmas now that I don't make much of it. I used to get very depressed in late November, just wishing to get past it all! but now, just my little creche out, and this year, first year in decades, a few ornaments on the ficus tree, and I'm all set, and very content. I hate the when are you decorating, where are your lights stuff that you get a lot if you don't decorate. But now, all's well.

Just enough Christmas, a few cards out, a few emailed greetings I designed, a few handmade gifts, and that's about it. Poifect!

  4. I"m thinking I'm going to make a pouch out of my blocks that I have already made... I just seem to know I might never complete a wrapping cloth..but, a pouch seems more like it to me.... just like I love the pin cushions I guess ....
