Stitching progress - and a celebration of sorts

First of all - I finally had some time to sit down and do some stitching on the recycled denim purse I'm working on...

The celebration part of this post is because I'm doing a happy dance because I just today completed typing Volume One of the diary written by my ancestor dating back to the early 1920's.  Over a year and half of work equaling 489 pages is all done but the final editing, which won't take place until I finish doing Volume Two - which is likely to take every bit as long as the first one and also be at least as many pages of transcript.  I really do hate to think about how much it's going to end up costing to have them published!

But never mind, today I'm celebrating!

  1. I just love your embroidery! And - I love that you are transcribing your ancestor diaries. Ambitious project, but one that I consider "majestically important" work.

I just finished doing the same with about 60 letters between my dad's mother, and her sister ~ dates are just before and just after he was born. I have a second packet with perhaps 40 or more, dating early 1940's. I also am transcribing letters from a great-uncle who was in Andersonville prison. That will take much longer...

  2. Congratulations on completing V1. I bet it has been really interesting to research your ancestry.

Love your stitching too. I have not kept up with reading my blog list too well in the last couple of weeks. I'd love to see more of the purse.

    Have a great weekend.

  3. Mary Anne, how pretty! I love the way stitching looks on denim. I have a pair of Scotts jeans here that he wanted me to fix but I may just cut them up and make them into something else!

Love that your typing up the diary! I love history, esp. personal history!

    Hugs, Pam

  5. Between the typing and the stitching you are giving your finger quite a workout! When you begin the next volume you can say to yourself it is all downhill from here, almost finished!
