See?
Above is a beaded seam treatment
done using waste canvas,
and below are three simple
commercial flowers (from a piece of trim actually)
surrounded by french knots and held down with
some cute little flower buttons.

For the yarn bowl part of this post...
I purchased this lovely handmade pottery yarn bowl
a couple of years ago (for the life of me I can't remember
who the artist is/was....if it was you, please let me know so I
can credit you!).
This morning whilst trolling around on the internet I stumbled
upon THIS.
Super cheap, super easy and ever so effective
homemade yarn bowl!!
For those of you that knit with more than one colour,
wouldn't this be a handy option?
So much better than chasing your ball
of yarn hither, thither, and (mostly!) yon.

Love your beaded border.. I need to get back to some embroidery work soon..
I just love your crazy quilting and the special details you add here and there. Having never heard of a yarn bowl i admired yours then went over and had a look at the simple DIY one - very easy to manage. I usually use a tall glass vase that the yarn cannot jump out of but this idea looked very convenient.
cheers and when you visit mine you'll see that i took your warnings seriously.
that is certainly a beautiful bowl....and what a good idea.
