Growth, and Snapper

Above you can see how much the baby
Canada Geese have grown.
They're almost as big as their
mama (or is that papa?).

Below is a dinner-plate size
snapping turtle
that DH photographed
on our walk this afternoon.

Believe me, you don't want to get any part of your
anatomy anywhere near those jaws!!

  1. Oh that turtle photo reminds me of an incident I had.
There was this HUGE snapping turtle trying to cross the 4-lane. I knew it would get hit, so I stop the car and go chasing after the turtle, which weighed a TON. IT WAS HUGE.
It also STUNK from water slime and was most ANNOYED that it was being moved.....thankfully I picked it up far enough back that the head couldn't reach my fingers, or I would have been missing a few!
Turtle ended up safe; I drove home gagging with the window down from *turtle-stench*! LOL!
    Yes, I'd do it again....

    XXOO~~

  2. I don't know why, but I have always loved moose. I don't think I have ever seen one except in pictures and tv, but I think they are so cool.

We have Canadian Geese that stay here year round, mostly staying near retention ponds. They are really a nuisance because their droppings contaminate the water and pond banks. But their babies are so cute and yellow!

I have never seen that kind of turtle either. I love turtles. My husband says I like the ugly in nature as well as the beautiful, but they are all beautiful to me!

  3. Babies grow up so fast :-( That turtle looks like a rock. I've heard they do have a nasty bite.
